Updating from a couple years back. Finally found someone with the right screw for dad's old vise. Nice fella in Rhode Island shipped it to me. When dad got the used vise, the lead screw had been "repaired" as seen in the before pic. The thing has a big, sloppy weld securing the replacement...

Squash..... the DB 29'er could be an interesting project. Wondering as I look at it, what is the intended purpose of the bike? Bar and stem say cruiser to me, but that would render your tire swap pointless. Just curious what you had in mind.... or if you're still figuring it out.

Macgee, I like the classic lines and clean builds in your corral. Only ever owned one roadie, but can appreciate any nice build. Love the lugs on the Olmo. One thing I wonder as I look at those drivetrains....... are there no hills?

That sounds hideous and cool! I've spent many hours drooling over Valkyries...... don't even care how bad they ride, they are literal art. The worst thing I rode was probably the bike I pieced together in '92. A steel GT with an early (in the US) Marzocchi fork, a single 34 tooth chainring...

Had a thing for the e-stays for sure. I've a first year Alien, Scott Ultimate, later aluminum Haro Extreme, and elsewhere is an Alpinestars Al-Mega. I just watched one of his videos a couple weeks ago.... really cool. I totally get that about modern bikes, so I just avoid riding them :lol:

Exactly ... the innovation was crazy. Builders were doing off the wall stuff, and most of it didn't really work, but it was cool. I feel like the industry has agreed to a basic design that no one really has strayed from in YEARS.

That's a good looking Fuji. I love the vintage bikes. I used to have a problem, I suppose, with bikes and have a huge pile of 90's bikes and parts. Was a poor kid and could never afford the nice stuff, so when I got a good job, I started collecting and building bikes that would have been cool...
