    Fastening into brick/mortar

Thanks for the tip! I did end up using Tapcon screws. The flag pole has been up for 24 hours and seems sturdy. One of the holes did end up being too large, and the weed eater cord worked perfectly! The trick was using a small drill bit size than the one Tapcon recommended. I guess my mortar...

    Fastening into brick/mortar

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I do realize that drilling into the brick is the best solution, but I want to avoid that as much as possible. So, I'm going to give the mortar one more try and use the Toggler Alligator fasteners. I haven't come across those before, and I like what's...

    Fastening into brick/mortar

Hello Garage fans, I have been without luck trying to fasten a flag pole attachment base to my brick wall. I am wondering if you can help. From what I've found on the net, I've been drilling into the mortar. I first tried the screws with plastic anchor sleeves the flag pole kit came with...

    Protecting Driveway Cement

Hello everyone, I have a driveway that is about 1 year old. I noticed that last winter created some small craters where cars where parked (perhaps from vehicles depositing salt). I would like to protect my driveway. I believe I should apply a sealer. Since it's the driveway, I don't want to...

Hi C7fx, No chemicals. Just water from a garden hose and a broom. Garage faces east and this was in the afternoon meaning no direct sunlight.

Rinsed epoxy-coat floor 1st time... Paint smell??

Thanks, Kayla. The floor seems ok, so we will see. The broom I used to a lean while the floor was wet was different than the one I used to Prepare the garage floor with. So I don't think it could have come from that. Anyway, I'll keep an eye out and it will probably be soon before I rinse...

Rinsed epoxy-coat floor 1st time... Paint smell??

Hmmm... great, sounds like no one has experienced this before! I don't think I have uncured epoxy, I've checked the floor, and there are no sticky spots or anything like that. I waited a full week to allow the epoxy to cure completely... and checked random spots doing the "finger nail" test...

Rinsed epoxy-coat floor 1st time... Paint smell??

Hello all, I applied epoxy-coat over July 4th weekend and everything turned out well. This weekend (about a month from apply date) I rinsed out where my cars have parked. I noticed that during the rinse (and sweep) the garage smelled like paint. Seems strange to me. Is the epoxy reacting...

    oil stains - pre-prep questions

Glad to hear at least you are making some progress... even slowly. When I had my oil stain issue, I called Epoxy-Coat and asked them what to do. I told them I have tried everything. They said if nothing is working, then just apply a thin layer of epoxy in that area, and let it dry. Then apply...

    oil stains - pre-prep questions

My guess is moisture trapped deeper beneath the surface. Just needed more time to allow it to evaporate.

    oil stains - pre-prep questions

Others may chime in if I am not correct, but I believe if water is not beading up anymore, you have a porous surface, and it will be ready for your next step.
