Most paint boots work on over pressure, not under pressure. turn the fan in your wall arround. make the filtering better and **** outdoor air in, push it true the filters in your garage. this way you you can not **** dust and dirt in to your work area. i'm sure there is dust waiting to drop...

In school we had to do this also. 2 cans but on but, 2 cans top on top, cut a can vertical in half, and weld it back water tight.
