Hello everyone,

I'm new here.

This is my current garage status. It's a place attached to my company that i use to my DIY car projects. In the moment i'm doing a full rebuild on a 1992 honda civic.. bodywork, paint, new engine, rollcage..

I love to make things, tools and cars and i use this place to do that:

After reading some threads here.. i know i can upgrade my garage a lot..
But i want some ideas about what do to... i already have some, i will share with you guys later..

So, what you think ? (It's a mess now, i know..)
:dunno:

Re: Untitled Garage from BR

Where is BR?

As far as the garage, it looks like you have adequate space to work. If it were mine though, I'd get some cabinets up so you can get some items up off of the floor and get some items behind doors. That way, you won't have dust, grit, and dirt laying all over the horizontal surfaces. I would also move the big shelf to the front and put your workbench off to the side where the shelf is. Painting the walls white would brighten it up over the blue walls.

As far as other ideas, they are limitless around here. So many members have so many great ideas.

Here are a couple threads that you may want to look at for some good ideas

Out of curiosity, what is your business or company that you have?

And welcome to the Garage Journal. :hellobye: You will find this site addictive, so prepare yourself for spending quite a few hours on here. You will find that this is a great group of people and well diverse in all aspects of getting things done no matter what it is. So if you have questions, ask away. There are many mechanics, remodelers, car enthusiast, and beer aficionados on here that can answer anything.

Hello kevin,
BR = Brazil, like cyberguy said.

About cabinets to get itens off flor and behind doors your are right.
I'm started today closing the main (gray) closet that you can see on the photos.. i'm putting wood around it, just dont know what i do in the front yeat.

About moving the big shelf to the front it wont be good because the space width will be too small with the self + car, but thankz.
In the front i'm thinking about doing some place to the bench drill and grinder.

About the walls.. i'm new in this stuff (wall paiting), i just painted the company office hehe.

I dont want to repaint it all, but i believe the floor and part of the wall (up to 1 ~ 1.2meters from the floor) is a nice idea.. maybe some dark blue on the wall and something on the floor (Gray?)
About that.. what is the good stuff to paint floor ? Epoxy paint ?

I will look into the cabinet topics now :)

And about the business, we work with steel/stainless.. we cut (oxy/cnc and plasma/cnc) and we bend.

Thankz for the welcome, i'm sure the people here are great!
I'm already addicted to the threads ;)

Welcome to GJ.

Based on the boxes i'm positive it's Brazil.

THankz!
Yeps, Brasil.

You might want to secure that welding gas bottle to the wall or to a welding cart. It just makes me nervous knowing what can happen if it falls over and breaks the valve. :)

No matter the country, the tools are all the same. In that we find commonality and community. The shop is looking great. I wish I had some of your metal working skills even if, as it appears, you are still learning yourself. Keep posting, we are here.

Whats with the 3 coils in the top corner is that your power filter or step down set up?

Can you enclose that to keep the dust out and add a cooling fan to force feed the clean air in?

Looking great and flying along, whats the small turbo out of..hehehehe

Hello K2sno! Thankz for your compliments!
It's my second experience with rivets.. i liked to use it :)
The metal background of cabinet, the wood top, the hinges and the door lockes i used rivets to hold in place.
I will checkout the machine punk thread! Thankz

That is a 220VAC -> 400VAC transformer to my supply power to the plasma cutter i have in my company.

Or this white thing at the left:
http://www.nrteam.org/up/imgsimages/1/20120709/IMG_2739.jpg
?
This is an air dryer for the air system ;)

The small turbo is a pic i found on the net heheh, thought it was cool heheh

Re: Untitled Garage from BR

Someone can help / opinion about the height in the wall ?

By the size of the cabinet you can imagine the weight.. it's a 1,6m X 2,2m cabinet - wood top/side/shelfs -- structure in square steel 30x30x2.6mm and shelf structure in 15x15x1.5mm

Anyway... the wall is like the picture above.. with 17cm thick -- what you guys think?

Im thinking about fixing it only with 3/8" cross bars into the top..
Then put a reinforcement in the bottom.. but only after is already into the wall..

It's gonna hold?

The wall bricks are like those:
00179_1.jpg

The wall scheme is like this.. and this is what i'm planning to do.. what u guys think?

I am at a loss to help, due to a lack of knowledge of your local building materials. You may want to run the concept by someone local with experience in your building materials.

If you are going to build a base and set the box on it and use the anchor at the top is only for stability I am sure it would work.

Re: Untitled Garage from BR

Hi cpl. Are the fans EX-proof? I saw You mensioned a paint job... Just don't want You to end in a big boom:scared:. If not, You might want to use them only for inlet air, so explosive gases don't pass through them.

Great job on the cabinet. I see You were worried about the weight and stress on the wall. I can only give my opinion based on the pictures, but to me it seems like You solved the problem with the supports in front down to the floor. Otherwise you would have put a lot of stress on the wall, and it may have cracked or even collapsed. Brick walls can take a lot of vertical load, but are not so strong when you pull or push on them.

Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing!
