Don't need them often, but man do they come in handy sometimes. Keep borrowing my buddies old Craftsman set. Would like to find a set like that ( 2 and 3 jaw set with variable length). Any recommendations on quality brands or older brands if I can find them?

Forgive my naivety with terminology. Spindle is in the rack and pinion correct? All that is in the casing. The rack and pinion was stuck in the down position, as shown in the pics. I was able to tap it back into the casing enough to get the teeth engaged with the lever and Shazam it’s back to...

These gear teeth are on the inner cylinder allowing the press additional 5-6 inches of throw (torque). I can’t budge it up or down. Seems it should just slide out?

Obtained a Weaver 28 ton shop press (mid 1920’s?). Great condition almost all original. Restoring but can’t get headstock/threaded rod/rod casing apart? Anyone have experience dismantling one of these? Any help appreciated.
