$65. Not bad since I was just about to spend twice that on a new craftsman professional vice from sears. I like the history of something older like this. I may try to clean up the jaws a bit more, but they're totally usable compared to some others I've seen.

Went and checked it out, was misadvertised. Same model, but older with non replaceable jaws. The price was right, so I picked it up anyway. In pretty good condition given the age, including the jaws. I'll strip and repaint it, and get it back to use!

Yeah, they don't appear to be visually, but I think he said they weren't removable. When did yost stop making them in Meadville?

I'm headed out to look at a vice this morning, an older Yost 204. The jaws are cast in place, but are supposedly in pretty good condition. Anyone have any idea approximate vintage, or other thoughts on the value of these?

I'm not familiar with building in that part of the country, but why are the bottoms of the wall that close to grade? Seems like a perpetual source of water invasion, rot, insect problems. If you sill plates aren't pressure treated AND a water barrier placed in between them, they'll eventually...

Re: Making garage cabinets...Metal frame with wood pannels? There is one you can clamp to the wood for $20: amazon I bet the savings in wood vs iron would pay for it. Obviously, I'm pushing for wood :).. though I did do what you were thinking one, and build some bedroom furniture using iron...

I'm no contractor - but I've been learning a lot lately. That said, won't the beams that are built into the foundation eventually rot since they will be continuously exposed to water from the cement? Are they at least pressure treated (though even pressure treated would isn't invincible).
