for removing gelcoat use a resin fibre discs in Silicon carbide material, i.e. the black coloured discs. As someone mentioned VSM are a good bet but use the SF08 series for best results on removing gelcoats; https://us.vsmabrasives.com/fileadmin/ftp-upload/product_datasheets/VSM_SF08_EN.pdf
