Tornado shelter integrated in the slab pour?

I live in Oklahoma, we had our shelter put in the floor of the middle bay on our three car garage when the house was built. Cost for a 6'x12' shelter in 2015 was $4600 installed. An EF3 Tornado with a 20 mile long path of damage blew through about 1/4 mile from my house on November 3rd, 2024, at...

    Tuff Shed to Woodshop Transformation

This guy has some of the best ideas I have seen for using a shed as a shop. His doors for storing lumber and sheets of Plywood are my favorite. I used them in my 12 x 12 shed at my last house. Here is the builders link has videos of the inside and more details...

    Shop is a mess.. help!

I am guilty of this! I have to go through my stuff a couple times a year and get rid of the stuff I think I will need sometime in the future. Like the three tile cutters I have been carrying around since the last time I did tile work in 2012. I'm still a work in progress.

Recycled Asphalt Millings instead of mulch?

I used crushed concrete as well for the walkway along the side of the house. Layed fabric down first for a weed barrier.

Best way to store ladders vertically while keeping tight against the wall? What's the best hardware to use?

I store my ladders in the space between the two garage doors. I put my 6' wood ladder against the wall, then my extension ladder that is wider the the wood ladder in front of it and use a bungie cord and two eye bolts. holds them nice and snug.

Honda pressure washer kicking back when starting??

I had the same problem on my 4-stroke, I pulled the carb and cleaned the jets real well. Still have to relieve the pressure, by pulling the trigger. But it runs great! Also quit running anything but no ethanol gas.

Vyper chair casters, where to buy?

I also use the Polyurethane wheels from Amazon, what a difference, quiet glides over the tile in my office and the concrete and n my garage. The original wheels that came with both chairs we so irritatingly loud, and would get stuck like a bad shopping cart wheel.

    Garage “stem wall?” Seapage ?

The door is on the top step (of two above grade) we did a second test with the hose, spraying only the siding, not the door. We observed no leaking. So it seems to be coming from the door frame on both sides. With the right one (from outside pic) being the worst. I am going to remove all the old...

    Garage “stem wall?” Seapage ?

I think I found it. Below are the outside pics. I did spray water from the hose, a trickle started under both sides of the door jamb, and ran down the stem wall bit, and a trickle started down from the left side (looking out). I don’t see any flashing under the door either. Any ideas on the best...

    Garage “stem wall?” Seapage ?

Sorry it took so long to reply. It is dry now but where the brown stain is, where it was coming through. Just a small trickled probably no more than a cup but concerning. The outside wall has a brick facia exterior and has a 3’x6’ frame filled with lava rock for a garbage can storage area about...

    Garage “stem wall?” Seapage ?

The six inch high concrete lip, (stem wall? Can’t remember what it is called) that the exterior wall rests on. Has a slight leak between the wall and the concrete, when rain comes from the North. How should I seal this up? Caulk the exterior or some kind of flashing? This seems like an odd...

    tool box INSIDE the house?!?!

I have worked in the technology industry for 30 years. One thing that was hard for me to understand was, old parts, were just that, old parts. I use to pack them along with me, for years. An example, I had plastic bins full of 50’ cat5 lines, brand new, never used. Personally I have been...

I'm hoping with enough water it'll grow.

You won the internets for the day! Now I dare you to buy your neighbor a smoothing trawl for Christmas, and when you give it to him, give him a wink and make kissing noises, 😘 😊
