    Work Bench Top Advice Please

Can anyone tell me if a butcher block top for a work bench will withstand the installation of a bench vise? It's long past time to replace the laminated particle board, but I'm concerned that the top might split along the joints if a twisting load is applied to the vise. The replacement I am...

    Mityvac MV8000

Use caliper piston grease on the bleeder threads. No danger of contamination. Search through the elbow adaptors. There are usually several different sizes in the kit. If the ****** is not too large, slide the hose alone over it. Might get you a much better seal. Last drum brakes I did with...

Glad to help. I saved most of my catalogs over the years as inventory lists and to drool over, so it was a fun trip down memory lane

Craftsman ratchet repair kit index: Usable?

Last month had a no part number 3/8 drive RHFT and 1/4 RHFT #43178 rebuilt at Sears Tool and Hardware in Bristol, CT, while I watched. Plenty of kits in stock. I don't think the woman who did the job was born yet when those ratchets went out of production, but, she knew what she was doing...

    Hello and greetings to all

    Chinese rubber stinks strongly...why??

Seriously, this is very possibly a health concern. The tires are probably off-gassing something you don't want to breathe. You might want to review the MSDS's that should be at your place of work for a start.

Closest I found is in the 1981 craftsman catalog under stock number 45113 for the kit. Picture is too poor to see number on large handle. It's the oldest catalog I have that shows the R1 and R2 bits, and it sold for 5.99. Hope that helps

    broken Craftsman torque wrench

You might try contacting JS Technology, Inc, in Alpharetta, GA, 770-475-8011, as they were the likely manufacturer, and might sell the parts. I don't find a website for them and I believe they are part of the Dahaner today. A couple of years ago I came across the Craftsman manuals and...

Craftsman ratchet repair kit index: Usable?

As of October, 2012, the Sears Tool Store in Bristol, CT has small rack full of various repair kits behind the register. I don't know how far back their model coverage is. One day I will ask them if they have a list available. A few years back, I went to Sears in Danbury, CT to have two...
