What to do about crawl space floor

Perhaps I worded by original post poorly. I’m mainly asking what would provide a semi decent flat and somewhat durable floor. I’m not dragging floor jacks in there, I’m talking making it walkable for Christmas decorations storage retrieval. A solution that will not cause a problem that I don’t...

What to do about crawl space floor

Appreciate the concrete recommendations but at 600sq ft and basement access, that’s a total non starter. It would likely be 10-15k for my crawl space.

What to do about crawl space floor

I have a new construction home with a large crawl space, gravel floor. Builder did a real half *** job leveling the gravel and putting down 6 mil plastic. I came back later and spray foamed the bare concrete walls…temperature, moisture and humidity are all fine, but I want to level out the floor...

Does the Obsessed Garage Youtube guy have OCD?

He does indeed have clinical OCD, as well as some condition that gives him panic attacks when driving (ironically). He talks about it every once in a while during his wash and talks. He’s been battling the panic attacks for many years and has tried many different therapies, apparently...

Gas valve on furnace isn’t getting voltage - replace control board?

It's hard to imagine a scenario where a faulty flame sensor wouldn't throw a fault code.

    Bulk storage of leftover hardware?

This is one of the more challenging garage problems. You either end up with a disorganized mess, a mish-mash of different organizers, or lock yourself into an expensive organization system. Then there’s the issue of space constraints as whatever method you choose grows. My biggest challenge is...

Gas valve on furnace isn’t getting voltage - replace control board?

Without knowing the model or looking at a schematic, it’s almost always a safety that’s preventing ignition sequence. I would never replace a board on step 1 unless there were obvious physical signs.

Best Non-Marring Sockets for Wheel Lug Nuts?

I’ve had many different sets of lug sockets over the years, but the game changer for me recently was the extended version like below. I’m not sure why all brands aren’t this length to avoid having to use an extension Orion Motor Tech Lug Nut Socket...

2-Post Lift on Post Tension Slab - Permitting After the Fact

What makes permitting hard in most areas is the fact that the structure, or lack thereof, is completely missing, the rules are arbitrary and up for interpretation, and the inspectors have near unlimited power to wreck your project, if they feel so inclined. Of course it shouldn’t be this way and...

Questions for the group about some outlets in my garage

You got a mess on your hands, GCs are the ones that pay the subs and maintain a relationship with them, and it extends way beyond your job. I’ve seen GCs make countless excuses for a poor sub at the behest of the customer for this very reason. And the EC must’ve never been in a multi gang...

    Horizontal B-Vent Unit Heater Question

I reference my post above and enter into the record, "Exhibit A"

Questions for the group about some outlets in my garage

If you're in construction, you'll know that you'll find more drama and diva behavior on a job site than in a beauty shop, and getting worse by the day. They want to be in their routine and if you dare ask them to move out of it, they lose it and find any excuse to get out of it and then *****...

    New TEKTON German Made Hammers

Tekton is following the old school Craftsman model, I welcome the throwback. Quality tools, decent prices, good warranty. They have some USA stuff but aren't afraid to rebrand some high end euro brands. Craftsman did the same thing, some of the OGs around here may remember the Craftsman...

    Square holes in the ceiling

Simple fix.....I'd get the drywaller and the electrician in the same room, point up at the fixture, and exclaim calmly but forcefully, "what the **** is this?"

    Horizontal B-Vent Unit Heater Question

This is one of those hot button topics where code clashes with practicality. First, is stainless horizontal vent pipe required in some jurisdictions - yes. Should it be used in longer horizontal runs - probably. Are there thousands of short, horizontal runs of regular b-vent piping installed...
