    Your first toolbox.

My dad made my first toolbox when I was 5 or 6. Looked a bit like this:

    Duker’s Barndominium

Hi Duker , I just finished reading the whole thread. Love the shops. Regarding the family health situation, don’t be afraid to reach out to other family and friends for some relief. Your wife and son I’m sure would take some comfort in knowing that you’re taking care of yourself too...

I can't find a decent garden hose nozzle.

The only one that has worked for me is the classic adjustable brass nozzle, like this one:

Snake in the Attic, Now What

Snakes and other critters don't bother me in the wild, but I don't tolerate them in my house. Normally for most pests I would suggest identifying and removing the food supply, hoping they move on to greener pastures, but snakes can go a while between meals (I think), and this one might just be...

Dealer or independent garage for car maintenance?

What happens when the part fails within the warranty period? Part supplier will claim it's the shop's fault, shop will claim it's the part supplier's fault. Customer gets to pay for parts and labor twice.

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Mid-Century Moto Mecca Makeover

My comment was a sincere compliment...like many others on the forum, I enjoy your story, your writing, and of course, your photography. As a scientist, your "ideas are like embers" analogy resonated with me. As a parent, your parenting philosophy rings true as well.

    Shop Vac worth a darn?

I think this is great advice...make a reasonable request for help. That said, I don't think we should hold companies hostage with social media, especially if you got acceptable service life out of their product. The flip side of this is that if a company stands up and does the right thing, they...

Furnace oil - does it go bad?

Condensation is probably a bigger issue for the tank than it is for the fuel. You can have the tank condition evaluated with an ultrasonic instrument that determines tank wall thickness. If the tank is mostly full, there is less air volume to allow for condensation formation. As posted above...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT My Five Pound Garage.

Disclaimer: I haven't been through the whole thread. To address this question, I would use a wood turning lathe from start to finish, using a parting tool at the end to achieve the axle diameter. Whole assembly would be one piece, perfectly centered, perfectly round. I realize this is probably...

    Insulation question

More information would be helpful. 1. Where do you live (what type of climate)? 2. Will be you heating/cooling the space? If so, how? 3. How do you intend to use the space? Just an occasional warm up in the winter to change the oil, or 70 degrees 24/7/365?

Looking for small angle grinder with brake

Hello all, I'm looking to buy a small 4.5/5" angle grinder with a paddle switch and brake. FWIW, I see that Milwaukee sells a M18 Fuel grinder (tool only; I have some M18 stuff already, but only 2 batteries) with those features, but it's pretty expensive at >$200. Any other suggestions for a...

    My new house/garage

Hi M-technik, did you fly the C-5's out of Westover? I see (mostly hear) those flying over my house in Amherst all the time...pretty impressive aircraft.
