Show us your cool, "old" drill press

I guess that make sense. Compared to a floor standing model I guess it would be 'lite' after all. Thanks.

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Hi, yes there is a grub screw in the middle hole that does not show. Specifically what is was for was not clear to me, so thanks for the information!

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Re: Show us your cool, "old" drill press And here is another older one. A Servian, also from back in the days when things were acutally made in Sydney. Apologies for the dodgy pic.

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Re: Show us your cool, "old" drill press G'day, here is my old Austolite drill that I have been gradually fixing up over the last few months. I have basically stripped it down and built it up again with new paint, bearings, seals and grease along the way. I had to source a...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

G'day, I picked up this nice Rota cantilevered mechanics chest for my collection of Australian made gear. Showing a bit of age but generally good condition with a lovely smooth action and original decals still in place.

Vintage electric power tools on the Journal

Fantastic. Love these, thanks for sharing. Ive got one of those '50s B&D saws too, currently in bits though to be polished. This thread is good motivation to finish the job. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

    The repurposing thread

My vintage mini compressor has become an industrial style desk lamp. I have a wire cage for the lamp in the mail and will pick up an old brass gauge down the track when I spot one. The compressor is still fully operational too.

    Old electrical gear

Sort of tools. I picked up a load of old electrical gear today. I haven't been through it all properly to figure out exactly what's there, but it seems to be mostly meters and test gear. So far I've spotted items made in England, Japan, USA, Germany, Hungary and Aus. There's several of...

    Old band saw help

Sorted. Thanks occupant. I knew I was missing something, just didn't know what it was. I just had to let the shaft move through a fraction and the wheel hub now clamps up to the shoulder. Still not a great design as you point out, but hopefully good enough for job. Cheers. Sent from my iPhone...

    Old band saw help

You might have solved it in one. I just took a look and there is a shoulder on the shaft but it's not protruding past the bush so I didn't see it. If I back off the pulley on the other side that should let the shoulder should clear the bush. I'll give it a try tomorrow and let you know...

    Old band saw help

Hi, I have this nice little old Aussie made bandsaw. I'm going to clean it up, but I have a problem with the bottom wheel freewheeling on the drive shaft. There is a key on the driven side where the pulley mounts, but on this side there is no key or other method I can see to make the secure the...
