    Soldering Iron? Home use...

my most used soldering iron is my hakko fx-901. just can't beat the simplicity and portability. not great if you really need temperature control but it's not an issue for me. i've been really impressed with the performance.

    Welding helmet suggestions

i started off on a harbor freight AD, and i think that is a good helmet to start with just to get the hang of things. once i got comfortable with my setup i bought a cheap passive hood with a gold lens and that was a huge leap from the harbor freight.

i bought 2 of the seek thermal cameras when lowes was clearing them out a couple of years ago for $60. they don't come out of the drawer much but they're fun to play around with from time to time.

    Husky cordless ratchet

i bought one and really like it. the internal battery isn't that big of an issue for me since i won't be using it daily. when the battery dies i'll just open the thing up and replace the samsung 20R cells with fresh ones.

i bought one and its currently charging. when i opened up the case i had a similar reaction. then got out my milwaukee fuel 3/8 and they're about the same girth even though the husky looks a lot thicker .

Please generally opinionize my welding table plans

you might already know this, but try to weld short segments and then move to another spot to allow the first one to cool. i usually run 1 inch beads, this will help with warping. i've been doing this since i read it on another forum and it seems to work for me. i'm just a hobbyist so others...

Torque wrench range for lug nuts

another vote for a 25-250 ft-lb torque wrench. i use mine mainly for lugnuts but a couple of weeks ago i had to torque a couple of bolts on my car to 180 ft-lbs.

Best Tools to Get You Out of Trouble

like others have mentioned, a dremel has gotten me out of jams more times than i can remember. tonight an air hammer would have saved me a lot of grief, i'm getting one tomorrow.
