Adding a cinder block foundation to existing shop

Major necro, but I just came across this post and I will be doing something similar to my garage. Any chance you still have the photos of your progress? Looks like whatever image host you used has long since stopped working. Being able to see your process would help a ton.

Yeah that's my only concern. I have a fairly powerful impact driver, more than enough torque to remove the screws most likely. But if I don't find a tight enough bit the thing will most likely strip them to nothing. The screws are surprisingly low quality, extremely easy to strip.

Never would've thought of that, I will give it a try. Thanks!

    Vise restoration help.

Appreciate it. Any idea whether I could buy a new roll pin to replace it?

    Vise restoration help.

Picked up a Columbian 506-M2 today and I love it. Going to restore it as best I can. I've ran into some roadblocks though and could use some ad-vise (haha, get it?). First off, on the lead screw end cap there are two holes with what look like hollow set screws or pins, one on either side. They...

Correct me if I'm wrong. The Columbian vises were always hollow, or was that started later on? I have heard they are lower quality then Reeds, Athol, etc. from the same period, but never knew why. Looking at potentially buying this 506 for about $150, just want to know if its a good deal or I...

Turns out it was a 5162, great condition. They backed out of the deal though. It ***** but I can't blame them, vise is beautiful.

I will try to get some pictures later, I will be picking up the vise a day or two from now. Also, would it be sacrilegious to powder coat the vise to a high gloss black? Not the jaws or working surfaces of course. I work at a factory that would allow me to do it for free, just conflicted on...

Hey all! I was lucky enough to receive a craftsman 51xx series vise recently (I think its the 5196?), looking to restore it. I have been looking for the closest paint option to what craftsman originally used on it, durability is a concern too so I'm open to more expensive paints. Also, what...

Accurate color for Craftsman 05196 bench vise?

Sorry, its snowing heavily where I'm at and I am dead from work. I might be able to post some pictures tomorrow evening. I didn't see a rules section? I only seen a post number requirement for the classifieds channels, which I am obviously not in.
