    Somewhat odd Williams S51.

I have a Williams B-51a refrigeration ratchet that is a similar design with a couple of square drive holes in the handle, for using as a valve key maybe? Anyway they are a nice design and mine still works perfectly with a nice action.

    Whats your favorite vintage ratchet?

Sadly i dont own any S.K. ratchets so cant comment on how good they are. Have a Husky CS-45 made by New Britain, early 60s maybe. Looks a little scruffy but still works really well. For looks alone i like my Herbrand S-10 slide shifter, really light action with the dual pawl setup, 1940s.

    Vintage Snap On ratchet AT8022

Thanks for the help lads, going to get help with photos from a friend. I have seen other tools from this kit, Bonney, Barcalo etc. So most of this stuff came over here. Eternally grateful for everything you lads did for us back then by the way. Never forgotten, respect.

Couldnt agree with you more, every day is a school day. The knowledge some of the blokes on here have is impressive. I am by no means an expert and dont pretend to be one. I just have a little knowledge and like to learn from anybody. I see from your number of posts you have plenty experience on...

    Reasonable 3/8" ratchets

Some of the German ratchets are pretty good in my opinion. Stahlwille, Gedore, Hazet, Elora. Just boils down to mechanism, handle design and price i suppose. USA tools still have the edge in my opinion, not knocking anyone else. Mac Tools are one of my choices for everyday use. If it comes down...

Cant beat it, raking about, you just never know what will turn up. Most of my vintage American tools have come from local sales. Cost me next to nothing but just love the history behind them. Mainly ratchets and pliers, the sort of stuff that you guys probably wouldnt look twice at but over here...

    Snap On Ratchet AT8022

No, sorry it wasnt me. I got in a job lot of cheap broken ratchets that nobody bid on. I spotted it in the photo and was sure it was old Snap On just from the shape of the handle and head. The guy was going to throw them away if nobody bid! One mans junk and all that. I did see an old listing on...

What made Craftsman =V= better? I seem to see it mentioned often.

I have a 3/8" Craftsman =v= with V shifter that i bought a while ago. These have got to be rare in England i think? Cleaned up really nice and still works well. Feels really solid in the hand. Just screams classic American cars to me with its "fins". Wouldnt use it as an everyday ratchet but i...

    Reasonable 3/8" ratchets

I have a 3/8" Williams B51a refrigeration ratchet that feels really slick despite its age. Over here in England Britool make good quality ratchets of all types, dont know how common they are over there. I use Snap On and Britool daily but have a few vintage American ratchets just because i love...
