    Electrical Load Sizing Calculations

Thank you, I thought it might be more in depth than face value but the engineer didn't seem to think it should be overly complicated.

    Electrical Load Sizing Calculations

So, bear with me here, I'm just trying to learn. I'll consult with an electrician as soon as I can find one to actually do the work. I'm having new service ran to a new shop on my property. Duke Energy's electrical engineer came out and gave me a Load Sizing sheet I need to figure out to...

Rollup door locks- Padlock or cylinder lock?

I haven't looked into that and was honestly surprised they were on the outside. I'll see if that's a possibility. But yeah, retaining control of the lock is my big thing. Mostly worried my son will lose one but it could happen to me too lol.

Rollup door locks- Padlock or cylinder lock?

My thought was most people around here(not that it's been a problem) probably aren't going to be picking locks. They'd have bolt cutters or a grinder. But, being able to pick a lock with a pen is kinda next level easy I suppose.

Rollup door locks- Padlock or cylinder lock?

Just had a new metal building installed and it came with Trac-Rite roll up doors that have a slide lock on the outside. They make a cylinder lock that goes into the slide for a cleaner look. The problem I see is that to open the door, you pull the whole cylinder lock out so then you have to put...

    Soil Compaction Test?

Great ideas. I'll continue to check around and did find one more lead on a excavating company that may be able to assist.

    Soil Compaction Test?

Update: Permitting once someone to come out with a "penetrometer" and test for 2000psi compaction. It doesn't have to be signed off by an engineer. However, the company that permitting gave me to call, they wanted to take soil samples and test in a lab and basically do way more than what's...

    Soil Compaction Test?

Expensive is relative. A $100 building permit and the city has to travel to my site 3-4 times, inspect and report. Granted that's not a private company.

    Soil Compaction Test?

Assuming they do require it. I only say that because the company they gave me to call didn't offer what you're speaking off. They also want $500+ for the test, which seems steep but I have nothing for comparison at this point.

    Soil Compaction Test?

Thank you for the replies. The permit office said if dirt was being brought in, then a 2000psi compaction test must be performed. We didn't bring in a lot but my yard did slope a bit. I contacted the only semi local geotech engineering company and they said they could do the test but their only...

    Soil Compaction Test?

Is having a soil compaction test completed normal for a permit requirement? I'm in NC and currently having my land leveled for an upcoming 30x50 shop. The local permit office said I need this test completed before my permit and concrete go in. No problem, so I thought. No one seems to know who...

How to plan for stub outs and footers?

Thank you, that's the kind of information I was hoping for. And I apologize my original question was poorly worded. I should have been more specific. I am making a floor plan but that doesn't always translate to real life. For instance, I want a 2-post lift near a wall. Will 4' be enough room...

How to plan for stub outs and footers?

I might be overthinking this but I'm stressing about how to plan for location of water (possibly sewer) stub outs in the concrete as well as where the footers will go for the lift. The building will be 30x50 with 2 bay doors on the long side, semi-close to each other. Basically splitting the...

Are my building specs okay for a 30x50?

Looks like plenty of room to me. Did you purposely request more roof pitch for the lift? That was something I discussed with the builder as well.
