    Thank you for your input and pictures. The one I have looks exactly like the up-skirt picture youve shared of her internals. I wish I would have seen this earlier because its a lot easier to see what goes where when compared to the picture I was using as a referance, but regardless she's alive...

    I just picked up a Craftsman 1/4hp grinder model# 397.19571 but none of the wires are connected except at the windings, the switch is missing and so is the power cord. If it wouldn't be too much of a hassle will anyone that has the same grinder mind snapping a pic or two of how yours is wired
