    Looking into Propress

So I’m looking into purchasing a pro press setup to press up to 2” copper. This will be a tool used in a manufacturing plant to make emergency repairs as well as new installations. All the contractors I see are using either Ridgid or Milwauke. We are standardized on Dewalt as a battery...

    vulcanizing compound and tire plugs

I've used Safety Seal and Tech plugs for over 25 years and installed hundreds of them in customers tires as well as my own. Never had one problem or complaint. All I hear is stories about tire plugs failing and causing terrible accidents and insurance liability, but never any hard evidence...

    New Screwdrivers

I would not worry about all my drivers matching. No one manufacturer makes the best of every style of driver. It all depends what you're working on. If it's a phillips or JIS, nothing beats Vessel screwdrivers. Flat blade I look for parallel or hollow ground tips, and american made...

    Looking for ratchet reccomendations

Why do you want a coarse tooth ratchet? Fine tooth is much nicer to use in tight spots. In the past coarse tooth ratchets were considered to be more durable. In most modern fine tooth ratchets the week link is the square drive. There are many Youtube videos or people demonstrating this. at...

Who makes a good flex head ratchet?

If money is no object I would go Snap On! I have several SO ratchets that are Pre dual 80 and they still feel better than the Taiwanese ratchets made today. SO also has the about the perfect head joint design. I have a Mac Axcess 90 tooth flex head and the joint is just crappy, it is either...

    tool organization for mobile box

I'm in a similar situation where I work. I do some electrical, plumbing, machining, welding /fab and also general mechanical. I tried to narrow down my tools into a "go bag" that I could just grab when I have to go out on to the floor for a repair. I found myself making more trips back to the...

    New Craftsman ratchets.

So the other day I stopped by Lowes to pick up some sheetrock (Did not want to drive the extra distance to HD) . This is probably my first time in a Lowes in about three of four years. I figured I would bring in my Cman 3/8 long flexhead ratchet for warranty, this broken ratchet has been...

    digital caliper with fractional readout

I did see that. Now that you mention it maybe my Mitutoyo's don't do fractional. Maybe I'm going crazy, I'll have to check tomorrow at work.

    digital caliper with fractional readout

I don't understand the issue, I thought that all digital calipers could do this. My cheapo HF does as well as my Mitutoyo and Starrett.

It's no wonder I stay confused

Really doesn't bother me. It was not the Chinese that invented the wrong way lever. Many years ago Plumb ratchets had a backwards lever and now that transferred to the Proto ping pong paddle head ratchets. It has to do with the ratchet mechanism used not the country of origin.

    Makita 481 vs Hitachi DV18DBL2

I'm sure either will suit your needs well. I use a Dewalt at work and find it more than enough power, like enough that it really, really hurts when a bit binds up and the handle smashes your hand. I routinely use this tool for purposes that you never would of considered using a cordless tool...
