If you've got 3 or 4, sure. If you have a hundred or so to tighten and cut, it's nice to have a tool.

Don't have any experience with those shown, but picked this up used a few years ago for $40 or $50. Have cut at least a thousand zip ties with it and it just works. If you really need one, I highly recommend it-Panduit GS2B.
