I had never thought of that. I have a dozen or so of those boom mic stands. I think they have a secondary use now.

Bought this today so I could strip 25 years worth of white paint from the banister railings. Not high end by any means but still made short work of the paint with 60 grit belts.

I have never needed them for specific automotive or motorcycle applications. I keep them around because I always drop things in the engine bay and they are good for retrieving nuts bolts and sockets where my hand wont fit.
