Thanks, guys. Water infiltration or not, I'll have a floor drain back inside the garage so perhaps it's a moot point as long as I have a slight slope from the door to the outside. I can see where it would definitely be less hassle dragging stuff in and out the door.
Thank you, guys, for all the input. I knew if I posted here I'd have a lot of ideas to consider. I probably didn't do a good job of describing this but I was thinking of the door dropping down into the pocket rather than setting on top. The two things I'm mainly concerned with is wind blown rain...
I'm finally getting around to pouring the rest of my barn slab. This piece will include a 12' wide garage door area. I'm considering a 3/4" deep pocket, recess or weather lip (not sure of the correct terminology) in the slab for the garage door to sit down on (below my finished slab grade). I'm...
Set all winter and forgot to post anything further on how I approached the barn slab pour. This is how we did the middle pour. I didn't want to drive concrete on the previously poured concrete and decided to buggy the concrete down the center of the slab and dump out the end. As we progressed...
Hey guys, I'm looking for some more expertise. With the two slabs shown would it be best to place expansion joint material along the edges prior to pouring the center strip? Ive seen pours where some have but others have not. Thank you
Sorry for being late to reply but thank you for the info. I will look into these products. Question...would I be correct to expect these to be stiffer in colder weather or are they formulated to flow well even in colder weather, say, in the 30's? I haven’t done any yet but it's getting colder...
Those red "sticks" are exactly what you decribed. Called Speed Dowels, I found these at White Cap and decided to try them as I didn't really want to hammer drill on the new slab if I could avoid it. They seemed to work pretty well and accept a #4 bar. They are about 9" long. That black band you...
Hey guys, sorry for the delay. Wanted to update you with what I decided to do on this floor pour. We made the first pour the other day which included two 5.5 - 6 cy pads at the rear of the barn. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Each pad was about 9.5'x32' and located along the...
I didn't explain my barn configuration very well. I've got a 10' high garage door on one of the 30' sides and a 3' man door on the opposite 30' side. My only access with a chute is through the garage door. I'm not sure how far the truck chute will reach from the door but the remainder of the...
White Cap had the void cap in stock so I got enough of that to outfit the fiber board I've got. Installs easy. Will have to see how it peels up in due time. Thanks for the comments and recommendations.
I'm looking to put a 5" slab in a 30x56 pole barn. Will likely have to do this in sections. What I'm wondering is, with a rebar mat ******* 18" on center what do I need to consider if I'm thinking of renting a power buggy to haul from the truck to the pour section? Is this even feasible over a...
Thank you. Yeah, fortunately it's not poured yet but I have the fiberboard and I was thinking about the sealing part. I'll have to look into the caps. I can remember years ago I had the same dilemma but was able to find a fiberboard material with a 1/2" wood strip on top that you could peel up...
Anyone have a good way to remove the top portion of expansion joint material to allow for sealing? Pole barn slab with e-joint around the perimeter grade board and columns and with the top of concrete equal to top of e-joint material (fiberboard).
