Windows in Overhead Door, Yes or No?

Windows are nice. I bought a roll of the cheap window tint at auto parts store for my windows. Obscures contents from the outside even at night with the lights on and light pollution to driveway area is a dull glow at best. I'm just the right height so I have to tippy toe when I hear gravel...

    LM8500 Wall Controller Failure.

I've been trying for a couple months to get an answer about my two failed controllers. Used the "contact us" link. No response. I reviewed the product poorly and received "A customer service rep will contact you". Never did. Again used the "contact us link" and was somewhat less pleasant...

    Garage and Shed: Splitting Storage

I'll tell you from my experience that you will never get it down pat. Whatever shop or shed you are in at the time will not have what you need in it. That said.... Lawn/garden and spare car parts in shed. House stuff (paint, plumbing, electric) in basement. Car cleaning, waxing, and light...

    Pine Ceiling

I did pine T&G ceilings in my house and plan to do garage also. 16 foot boards worked fine. Using short pieces it will start to get away from you. Slight variations in width will add up. With the longer boards just check and compensate every few. A friend of mine made me a tool to help get the...

    '78 F350 Dually Project

My 1977 460 pickup had an intermittent no start/stall that acted very much like loss of fuel but was loss of ignition. Ended up being the pick up coil in the distributor.

    building a deck need advice/help

I built a deck for a friend in other county couple years ago. I had the pleasure of a building inspector that was a real professional. This guy not only recommended some approaches I had not thought of but also gave input on some non code related aesthetics. He also let me slide on a...

    Old firehouses..

I keep looking at this. If you know the area you will understand it would be a real life "Omega Man" type place. http://www.coldwellbankerprime.com/Property/NY/13208/Syracuse/727_N_Salina_St_29_29

    Simple Workbench Build

Looks great. I have similar hardware drawer cabinets under my work bench. Drives me nuts that the top drawers won't stay open because they hit the top over hang. Going to modify how deep they are set in, notch the top or something.

New slab looks like ****. Need help/ advice.

Same thing happened with my slab. After about a year most all the dark was gone. Looks like concrete guy used some kind of curing sealer.

Recommendations for a garage door rain seal?

The Tsunami Seal worked for me with similar issue, intrusion only when rain blew against the door. The floor under door also had low spots and this seal made up the difference.

    Bracing

I did my pole barn like that. I believe it's called "Commercial Girts". I did not diagonal brace. I am slowly finishing inside with insulation and OSB so I will have support under each girt where the 4x8 sheets end. Outside is board and batten so some support there but not diagonal. The OSB...
