After searching for over a year I finally found a good enough deal. Clausing 20 seems to be in pretty good condition for the $600 I spent. I know people have found them for way cheaper but no deals like that around me. Motor is a 460v so I’ll have to change the motor out but still a deal to...
Thanks, I had been looking for a single phase motor originally but there are not a lot of options in my area at least. New its well over $1K, not a lot of used options, been looking all over marketplace, ebay etc. The original motor on this one is a 184 frame, not the more common 184T so that...
The seller said he bought the VFD to put on it because a "buddy" had told him it would work to run the 460V motor off his 220 single phase. I'll verify the original variable speed system is in good working order before finalizing the deal though.
Hoping to get some experienced recommendations. I'm buying a used Clausing 20" 2277 with a 3ph 460v (only) motor. It already has a 460v VFD with it, apparently he was told that this VFD could run this machine off 220v 1ph which it didn't.
I have 220 1ph in my garage. I've researched and read...
That's funny! Glad it found a good home. I was on the fence but it would have been a 9 hour round trip for me to have gone and gotten it. A friend of mine with a lot of experience in machining and equipment said the wobble on the spindle is likely just warn bearings so hopefully replacing...
Thanks for your input, no fork lift or crane currently. Engine cherry picker is about it. I don't see me working on anything in the near future that I would need a fork lift or crane to move it to the drill press. I'll keep looking for a smaller dp, maybe a nice geared head.
Looks like a low table for working. There is one not far from me was seeing if anyone who had used one or knew much thought it would be a good option for a home hobbyist who needs to drill through metal. The auto feed feature would be great. Or would I be better off looking for an older...
Just curious if anyone has any info on this dp? not sure what the stationary in the name means. Seems like it would be a good design for floor space. Anyone run one?
Man no kidding! I was hoping to stumble upon someone on my side with just that, one to spare. I have a budy with a Arboga BM2508 that I am in love with but he uses it daily.
I'm not ruling out a mill but floor space is one concern I have. If I found a great deal locally i'd make the room but primarily looking for a quality capable metal DP at the moment.
Came across an old Fosdick 13" superspeed sensitive drill press and cant find a whole lot online about it. Add says variable speed. Does anyone have any information on them? Looks robust to say the least.
