    Tensioning Belt on Grizzly Jointer?

This is for a G0565, but I'm pretty sure most of their jointers use the same system. Dug my jointer out of storage and was setting it up again and I cannot for the life of me remember how I was able to tension the belt on this thing. The instructions make it seem like the weight of the motor...

    Ear pro with face shield?

I'm a bit overkill when it comes to PPE. Anything that will generate dust and/or potentially send something flying at a high speed, I wear the 3M face shield respirator combined thing. Works wonders, I've had big cutting discs explode and get embedded in the shield and not my face. While...

Got a new compressor. Is the weld safe?

Do what they do in aerospace: grind it smooth.

    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

Is there any more Made in the USA clamps for glue ups anymore? Bar or pipes, don't matter to me. I have old Jorgenson clamps from when they were made in the USA, but need more clamps for some big projects coming up. Also, over the years, many of mine have up and left... EDIT: Or just...

Do you lube your ratcheting gear wrench?

Wait until you get older... When I was on the job, just like air tools, I would every once in a while strip down my ratchets and regrease everything.

Something You Might Not Have Known About Removing Spot Welds with an Air Belt Sander

This is interesting to read. Anymore info on this? I'm a retired fleet mechanic, and removing/replacing panels was a rarity, but we would just use spot weld cutters and zip through those things like they were made of butter. These were old trucks though.

Do I need a middle track for my garage door?

Cheers, fellas. Appreciate the sanity check.

Do I need a middle track for my garage door?

Have a garage door on the garage attached to my house that is about 13 feet wide, maybe 7ish feet tall. It's made of thin metal, probably aluminum, with I guess steel brackets and such, but it's pretty light I suppose. I bought a Liftmaster garage door opener, I think it's the 8500, but it's...

Power ratchets vs hand tool ratchets

Wisdom. Yeah it's fun as **** to break rusted bolts by hand, but you do that day in and day out, only hobby you'll have when you retire is painting watercolors using your mouth. My grandfather used to always say to not wait to do something until it becomes a necessity. I saw so many old...

    Need to upgrade SAE sockets

So I see Williams offers both Made in the USA and Taiwan tools. What's the deal with that? Are they phasing out one for the other?

Have you used any metal protectant ?

Don't know what to use for an engine that can take the heat. For body trim and such, would polish it and get a coat of wax on it real quick, and apply every once in a while.

    Best Phillips 2 Insert Bit

I bought a pack of Bosch bits years ago when I was doing some drywall work on the side. It came in a case like a pack of toothpicks. Thousands of screws later, I'm still on the first bit. But Fix Until Broke is speaking gospel. Drywall? Phillips will suffice. Going DEEP into solid wood...

Does anybody else not care for ratcheting wrenches?

Honestly, in my thirty something years as a fleet mechanic, I rarely ever need to grab a wrench for anything, and when I did, I just use the open end to back out whatever. They are pretty neat, though. How do they typically hold up?
