If that were mine, I’d leave it all as is. Clean it, yes. Maybe even deal with the bubbled up spots. But leave everything else. That dent has a story behind it, one you may never know. But like I’ve always said (and someone else already said it here) “It’s only original once.”
It looks awesome...
My 1949 SO Ratchet. I bought it off the truck years ago for $30. My Rep had taken it on trade. He put new “guts” in it while I watched & it’s worked great ever since. I saved the old guts because the selector lever was brass.

It’s probably not that unique, and it’s only like 15 years old... but this SO FC936 is my favorite. It’s a 1/4” drive body, with a 3/8” DR head on it. SO still makes a stubby 3/8” but it’s not like this.

In my opinion, buyin a tool for a one time use, is EXACTLY why Harbor Freight exists. I hate junk quality tools & I avoid them at almost all costs. The only tools I’ve considered from HF are their small tire changer.
(Almost) Everything else I own is some type of quality tool. And if I only use...
I know a kid that got a great deal on a black SO box cuz he was a student AND it had a small ding on the back. He got it in his garage, took the box off, waxed it, then put the box back on. He decided he doesn't like black, so he has been trying to sell it ever since...
99% unused, never had...
Flashlights & breaker bars are good for self defense, but I would rather have a 1911 .45 ACP. If you hit a deer, elk, or moose, you can put it out of its misery with a .45.
Try that with a Maglite.
I agree with Heavy Metal Doc. I've been commuting 75 mi each way for 8 years now. Plan for winter weather with blankets or a sleeping bag, a couple of MREs, fire starter (hand sanitizer works good), a big bottle of water, and a flat tire. Invest in the premium AAA membership. If you're driving...
I scored, what I think is a Wilton C1 or maybe the predecessor to the C1. I does NOT have C1 anywhere on it but it DOES have 101169 stamped into the static jaw.
I NEED the swivel base jaws. The teeth are well worn from years of misuse.
