doorbell trouble shooting, what to do

Just clean the bore with alcohol or mineral spirits. Also clean the piston. It should rotate freely and move up and down freely.

doorbell trouble shooting, what to do

The plungers are spring loaded. The plungers must move freely inside the electric coil that surround them. If they are gummed up they will exhibit exactly the symptoms you describe.

While not in my shop, I though this to be clever repurposing. These are Baldwin Brass toilet paper holders.

I repurposed a 1951 Royal Spartanette travel trailer and made it into a car hauler and air conditioned lounge. Here's the complete build. Not for dial-up. Bring snacks. http://cardomain.com/ride/340096/5

    Barry from Michigan

Hi, I'm a collector, as such, I need lots of garage space. I currently have 10 cars with another on the way. I can keep 4 at home because of a lift in one of the bays. I usually keep the '55 Porsche Continental Cabrio and the '56 Continental Mark II convertible at home. I'm in the commercial...

Testing Circuits and found something odd... Help!

Is your compressor 240-volt? People often make the huge mistake of using a 120-volt outlet on a 240-volt circuit. Many compressors come wired for 120, but can be converted for 240-volt use.

    Storage height problem solved

Not a problem. Did the job 3 years ago, had plenty of snow and there's no movement. The opening in the ceiling is under 8 feet.

3-way and 4-way switch questions, fire away.

The electrical industry terminology does vary by region, but there are correct terms for everything. When I think of daisy-chain wiring I thing of Christmas tree lights that all go out when one burns out. That is because the current passes through the filament to the next lamp's filament.

3-way and 4-way switch questions, fire away.

You can run two sets of 12 or 14-2 and not use one of the wires. You will always need 3 wires between 3-way switches. If you abandon the white wire in the second cable and mark the black with red tape you'll have the Red, Black and white of the 14-3. Oh, and daisy-chained implies wiring in...

doorbell trouble shooting, what to do

Take the chimes down. put a small wire from one terminal of the transformer to the common lead of the doorbell. Install another wire on the transformer. touch this wire to the other terminals on the doorbell. They should ring with different tones. This will verify that the transformer and the...

3-way and 4-way switch questions, fire away.

No problem. I was only stating that power could come into the 3-way wiring at any point. The electrician's credo is to install the least amount of wire for the job. There are many possible configurations, that's why I'm offering to help. I've seen so many 3-ways screwed up that it's my kind of...

    Storage height problem solved

I beg to differ. The lateral strength of the triple lam beams bolted together offsets any outward force.

    Storage height problem solved

You didn't know that the header above the windows is a triple 1 3/4" lam beam bolted together with 3/8" carriage bolts holding it together.
