    Heating a non-garage? (outdoor box)

Right on. If that's remotely accurate, it should be worthwhile. $15 a year is worth the headache lol

    Heating a non-garage? (outdoor box)

There are smarter folks on here than me, so i thought I'd try :) I've got some irrigation valves that anger me to no end every year. They are in underground boxes with very poor access and tree roots make "the task" more and more difficult each winter and spring. "The task"... I have an...

Hanging Heavy Bag (boxing) in garage... without tearing down my house?

I thought so too, but give it a chance! A moving target isn't necessarily a bad thing. It added an interesting dynamic that I think was a benefit. Didn't hurt, anyway. It didn't move far, and it encourages you to even out so you aren't working only your strong side.

Hanging Heavy Bag (boxing) in garage... without tearing down my house?

Actually, I did! It worked quite well. I'd share some pictures, but in the meantime I lost it (and the rest of my home) to a fire in 2018! I installed the unistrut as planned, but without the wood I described. I simply screwed those low profile screws directly to the joists through the...

    Is my garage insulated??

I thought I'd come back and give an update as well as seek more advice if you have it: Since last, I have confirmed R24 in the walls and R50 in the ceiling. R16 for the door, and one 2 pane 4' x 4' window. The general dampness has continued to be a problem. In the spring and early summer...

    Is my garage insulated??

And that would make the difference between dry (or at least thawed) and a scene from the movie Frozen?

    Is my garage insulated??

The contractor states they insulated it and drywall couldn't have gone on without it because it wouldn't pass inspection. I also took a peak behind an electrical box and I can see the purple spray insulation but no batt. I have no way of knowing, therefore, what R it is... but assuming the "it...

    Is my garage insulated??

If it is batt type insulation. I don't know for the garage specifically, but they used a purple spray foam for much of the house. Maybe batt as well... I guess I don't know. I really wish I got to see it after the insulation and before drywall.

    Is my garage insulated??

Ok, so you're saying the garage is *better* insulated than it was, and that's why I'm seeing this, right? Clearly something's changed, because this was never an issue before. Is this a problem, or no? And if so, what should I be doing? How does one "condition" the garage? Is that what you...

    Is my garage insulated??

Stupid homeowner question. I bought my house in 2007 and had a serious fire in 2018. It didn't burn down, but the smoke damage was so extensive, it was torn down to the studs and repaired from there. All insulation was removed (all electrical, plumbing, everything). Now, admittedly, I never...

Hanging Heavy Bag (boxing) in garage... without tearing down my house?

Yes, I am aware of those hangers. They strike me as a "oops... we screwed up on the design so now we need to engineer something to fix it" kind of thing :) I had three problems with those hangers: Availability (local store that carried the hangers and channel didn't even list them); Cost...

Hanging Heavy Bag (boxing) in garage... without tearing down my house?

[edit Jan 21, 2021: there has been a lot of attention on this thread lately. Please note this is a 2016 post :). As the OP, I no longer require assistance, but thank you!] Hi there. I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this question. I saw another thread on here from 2010 of someone...
