Was the $350 figure based on buying brand new metal? Im am lucky, we have a steel yard that has over an acre of just scrap steel. Sometimes it will be a brand new 20ft piece with a smashed and or something. If i remember right scrap goes for 40 cents a pound.

Do you have an air inlet on your cabinet? i built mine and am using my shop vac to **** out the dust and it does not work well at all. I think i need an air inlet so the air can move though the cabinet faster. you said yours was presurized, thats why i ask, How well does it work?

So your saying that, Just because they may look the same, they may be realy different? because of what the specs might be? Makes since. So its a god bet that the HF unit is not near as good as the Jet.

How do you know this for sure? Because i have heard of companys that have the same mold for the main structure of the machine. but the bolt on stuff (like the motor) would be different. There must be a way to know for 100% that they are the same. Because i also heard that Wilton comes out of...

That tool craft looks pretty nice. Not sure about getting it shipped though if i went that route. Does anybody have one of the newer Powermatics Drill Presses. They look pretty good for an extra couple hundred bucks. But on a lot of web sites they advertise that they are for woodworking...

As far as performance goes. Im not really sure what to expect, Ive never had a drill press. And i now im not buying a big milling machine. I just want to drill some holes.
