    Rust coating inside Quincy compressors?

What kind of rust protection is built into Quincy tanks? I have had a few people tell me that the Quincy compressors were built with real thick gauge steel so the tanks will last a long time. That the company also coated the inside. My model was built in 2006. Would anyone know if the Quincy...

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

It's 100% serious. It's a bodyshop. Will be posting photos of the build at the end of the year.

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

I have not confirmed this. Is watts increased when starting a motor, or just amps? I know soft starting is about reducing KVA.

    200 HP electric motor

    Welcome to my club.

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

Well I just looked into the option of replacing the electric motor with a gas engine. I am checking into whether my pump has unloaders, but if you do switch to a gas engine you must have unloaders so you can start the engine without the load of the compressor. Other than that... If I want to...

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

Why is that, starting watts much higher too? My motor is rated @8KW 3 phase power. 18 amps @460V.

Running 100 amp machine from two 50 amp outlets?

Splitting one breaker into two receptacles.

Running 100 amp machine from two 50 amp outlets?

Okay, because the highest rated plug you can have is 50 amps. I'm the last one to know anything about electricity, but don't want to call an electrician and sound like a ***** if you know what I mean.

Running 100 amp machine from two 50 amp outlets?

So I have another topic I've been discussing with a friend of mine. He seems to think that an electrician would be able to splice my plug, and run half of the amps from one 480V outlet and another 50 amps from another 480V outlet. This would avoid the need to hardwire, for a portable unit...

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

I had no idea about these, just began researching. Turns out there are 3 phase portable generators, such as this one below. https://www.absolutegenerators.com/gillette-portable-3-phase-generator-gpe-125eh-3-4-10-kw-480-volt-dedicated-22-hp-honda Also another possibility, very expensive...

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

Excuse me typo, single phase. 15HP single phase motor would still be close to 60 amps. If I run a dedicated 200 amp breaker box for just my garage, I would be able to use the phase converter and keep the 3 phase motor. Something to look into, for side business.

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

Of course there is one other option, and that is installing a dedicated breaker for the garage if I want to make this a permanent solution. Even single stage motors take a lot of amperage. That is something to consider down the road if I want to get serious about this setup.

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

Is it also true that 3 phase motors last longer than single phase? Two options: Replace with a single phase 15HP 230V motor. (Better option) Run phase converter off an industrial gas generator. (Bad option)

Using weaker phase converter to slow down compressor?

I met with someone today who owns a 15HP Quincy running on single phase power. He pointed out that my model also has unloaders, to help reduce start inrush amps. My electrician seems to think it would be okay on my 200 amp box. Further testing is going to be conducted. I will now be contacting...
