Craftsman Block motor Bench Grinders - What's the Fuss (with resource information)

I acquired a block grinder a few years ago and recently decided it was time for it to be refreshed. I’m stuck at step one as I’m having no luck removing the inside wheel flanges. I’ve soaked overnight in PB blaster, gently tried a gear puller and not seeing any movement. I’m hesitant to try...

OEM Air Compressor Corp (oemair.com) - anyone done business with them? Shulz Compressor

I'm in the market to upgrade my compressor and I'm leaning toward a Shulz 580VL30X-1. It's a 5HP, 2 stage vertical cylinder stack with 80 gallon tank that runs at 610RPM. The best price I've located is from OEM Air Compressor Corp (oemaircompressor.com or oemair.com) located in IL...

    BPs new weld/fab table

Nice table. That many receiver points should give you plenty of options. Almost done with my table now - it's 37" and I'm 6'2". Glad to know I got my math right!

    Reed 105 stand

Royce, Looking good - I enjoy following your work. Can't wait to see the finished result. I picked up this the other day Have to decide where it will reside, at 130+ lbs I've wondered about the physics of an angled stand. Any idea what your stand will weigh vs your vise?

30 gal or less air compressor question.

I have a craftsman 33 gallon vertical that has been my primary shop compressor for many years. It does fine although the duty cycle is a bit low for air hog tools like die grinders and air sanders. Recently I picked up a Harbor Freight 21 gallon similar to what you have linked for a similar...

    14" chop saw

I picked up the Dewalt DW872 last year when Zoro had their 25% off coupon. Great saw for my hobby metalwork. Prior to getting the dewalt I drug out the HF horizontal bandsaw for most cutting. The DW872 is my go to now for anything expect really large or thick pieces.

    Movable barrier for work area

My basement is divided into three sections - an enclosed wood shop with a metal roll up door, a metal shop enclosed with a barn door separating it from the center (non-shop) area. Both the roll up and the barn door work well for their purpose. If you want to maximize wall storage then the...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Been lurking here for a long time. Always impressed by the work and the tools. I've always had a fondness for vintage tools. It started with woodworking and followed me to metalworking. I've had a particular affliction for all these great old vises I see here. In the past several years...

A Hobart, two Millers and a tale of the welding cart.

Wrench - Great looking cart! I've been wanting to upgrade mine to accommodate my plasma cutter too and I love all the features you incorporated - onboard power, air flitration, etc. Thanks for sharing. I'm inspired!

    plasma cutter ?

I bought an Eastwood Versacut40 because the price was right and it was more or less to accomplish a couple of specific projects. It blew through consumables like nobody's business and worked ok if you held your mouth just right. Right before the 90 day exchange was up I returned it. After...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Unfortunately it wasn't a $25 garage sale find, but it wasn't a whole lot more than the $60 in shipping. One of the most complete and intact one's I have seen. The lights over wheels even still work!

    Welding / cutting table

Very cool! I like the grinder pigtail idea. I use several grinders because im lazy and hate to change and I'm always dealing with a mess of cords.
