I used the Eaton dimmer recommended here - nice rocker switch and slider dimmer in one unit. And available in colors (my garage electrical is in gray). I had to research a lot on what 18/2 wire to use. My first pass I used unshielded and ran it parallel to the 120VAC lines. Lights dimmed...
I would calculate the actual square footage of the surfaces you are having quoted. It can give you good basis for comparing, and asking companies if they have a “rate”. Here in New England, the company I use will quote pretty much at a consistent rate of $1 per square foot per inch of...
FYI - PLT-90098 is now out-of-stock until July.
I placed an order for (5) and they have let me know it’s on BackOrder and they cancelled my order.
I changed to the PLT-90097 4000K version which is in-stock.
They (1000bulbs) was very good about communicating and sending me quotes on...
NO limit on square footage.
35 ft height limit.
I am on a 1-acre lot in a normal residential area.
Yes, my 38 x 56 detached is MORE square footage than my house.
Damn ! I was planning to buy a new 4-post from them in the spring for my new garage. Loved the idea of picking it up there with no shipping. 🙁 Also
live very close by.
I sold my old 4-post (20+ year old Stinger) in the fall when I had to empty out my storage / temporary garage space.
LOL - the 38 x 56 garage is more than full now ! That was just the first night back in the summer.
The 993 is now joined by three daily drivers, three project cars (and all their parts), a CJ5, and all my tools/equipment. I sold my old 4-post lift and will get a new one in the Spring...
Not sure what you plan approval or inspections are, but if you have only one foot or two foot walls on each side of one big door there may be “shear wall” concerns. Not much resistance to wind / side loads with the very short return walls.
If you google “shear wall garage door” a bunch of...
I love the "over-built" frame for portico decking ! I can identify !
I am building a 4' x 6' landing for a set of stairs for rear walk-out door on my new garage. Landing will never have more than one person on it (just big enough for the stairs and to have one chair on it so I can sit and look...
This thread is referencing the NEW model 8500W (note the added W) which comes with an LED remote light from Liftmaster - NOT the incandescent.... (so the pics and references to the older 8500 instructions don't apply)
It's not just a studded fill-in wall up to the trusses, but rather - I built the gable end on the ground with the 2x6's running all the way and notched around each truss member. No rigidity issue. It could have been even better if I got more overlap of the sheathing across that plate joint.
