    Old spokeshave

Thanks for the replies, folks. Humber2: it wasn't till I posted the photo that I zoomed close enough to read and I see Wolverhampton clearly now. I should have done that first. The screwdriver is the one that gets me, I imagine that, at its length, it was used to reach inside something. But...

    Old spokeshave

I have an old spokeshave that came into my possession over 20 years ago. Beyond that, i have no idea how old it is. Can anyone tell me anything about it? The photos show the only identifying marks on it. I had no sooner posted this than I remembered two other old tools, so here they are too...

Blade removal from wooden screwdriver handle

OK, here 'tis. The handle had some paint on it. Getting it off, I removed the old finish. The dark stuff is well and truly ingrained, so I'm calling it "patina". I applied some beeswax and got a nice sheen on the wood, polished the ferrule and filed a tip on the blade. It is now once again a...

    Storing Nuts and Bolts

Depending on how much space you have and how much you need to store, you could use jam or peanut butter jars with the lids fixed to the underside of a shelf. You can see what's in each jar and just unscrew the one you want and put it back when you're finished. You also get to eat a lot of peanut...

    Newb from Scotland

Hi folks, I'm a grumpy old man who's having a bit of tidy-up in the garage. I have my own tools, my father's and some of various other relatives now deceased. Some are quite old ( the tools, I mean) so I might just post up some piccies and ask some questions.
