Thanks for the help guys.
Out of curiosity are there code issues with having 2 circuits supplying one appliance or machine? I know I've see large 3 ph machine tools with a seperate 120v circuit for lights and my 30 KW boiler is also wired like that with a 15 amp 120v circuit to the control and...
I am preparing to install an electric powder coating oven. It needs to be fed 3 phase which runs the elements. It also has a fractional hp fan motor, light and the control box which are single phase so they tap one of the hots and also need a neutral wire. That is all factory wired.
My service...
After reading every post I could find on the subject I decided to try what was handy which was a Skilsaw with a carbide tip blade, general framing with coarse teeth. I ran with the blade in normal position. It goes through the galv steel as fast as you can move the saw, fairly clean cut. Put...
I'm not an expert but here's what I see in the pic of the OP's system put into simple terms. It is designed as a Primary/Secondary system. In the pic the Primary/Secondary purge T valve is closed. With that valve closed the system does not function as a primary/secondary system as all water is...
Looking good!
It's my understanding that the buried lines can be a major source of heat loss and many of the insulated pipes have a lot of problems such as getting moisture inside the insulation and becoming ineffective. That hearth.com site has a good writeup on that too.
Take a look at http://garn.com/ for a big wood fired boiler with built in storage. Big bucks but you can also add storage tanks to a different boiler.
And, check out http://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/ and go to the Boiler Room for lots of wood fired boiler discussions and resources.
If you don't already know it here's a great resource for anything that burns wood:

So what are you hooking it to? Infloor heat, heat exchangers, radiators?
jvitez, I downloaded the 30 day trial version and what I got is just for roadway lighting. Did I maybe miss something or have they changed what's available on the trial?
I'm about to take the plunge and order my shop lights. The plan for a 40'x60'x17' tall main bay is 6 lamp t5's, 15 of them in...
Thanks for the replies so far. Demo and redo is what we are strongly leaning towards but don't want to jump the gun if there might be a viable option.
I know there is some rebar in it but don't have any details. It doesn't take much to figure out that over the windows would be a pretty...
This is a picture of a basement that a friend of mine had a contractor do. It was poured right before a hard freeze and the footer was not covered which I believe led to frost heave and the cracking. The top cracks widened up to the point that you can clearly see there is no rebar over the...
I was just checking out the electrical work being done in a friends pole barn. The electrician is using UF cable for the lighting and receptacles, the drops are in conduit up to about 12' high then it's left exposed on the high walls and underside of the roof. Is that a proper use for UF? And...
I put up a pole barn years ago and set the posts in concrete, no pad underneath. It was fine for about 2 years then one post settled about 4" in a short time taking the roof down with it. I dug out around and under it, jacked it back up and then poured a pad underneath which is how my current...
Okay it sounds like vertical is the way to go, I'll gladly accept a little bit of wasted material by cutting down the long sheets and avoiding any end **** seams.
2 other questions. First, how far should I keep it off of the concrete floor?
And the other thing is the ceiling where I am putting...
