Yes cast iron. I figure it isn't worth much and I'd imagine 80s may be right. Just wanted to get it working and keep it for personal reasons not value. The nut broke I to about 4 pieces. So welding is unlikely to work Thanks.

I have this vise that I broke the vise nut. I'd love to fix it. I doubt it is collectable or valuable, but it was my great uncles in his shop before he passed. It only has a 4 on it and I can't see any other markings.

Let me add I'd like to stay under $200. I am still looking for a vintage vise... but I haven't found any in east central Alabama...

So I had an old (couldn't see any markings) vise that was my great uncles... Well I did a bad thing when I was mad that something kept slipping and was hitting the handle to tighten and broke the vise. Anyone recommend a new vise? Yost? Irwin? Bessy? I have been looking on FB market place...
