Special tools or anything especially helpful for a starting out Toyota Tech.

Th Those lug nuts swell no matter where you are. Half sizes help. Also, 35mm and 36mm 6 points impacts for axle nuts. 30mm 12 point for axle nuts.

    Tekton Semi-Deep

Exactly. Also, inevitably when I need SAE at the house/property I have zero idea which size and it’s never actually close to my tool box, so a single rail that I can just take wherever the errant bolt/nut is located would be excellent. Same with my SAE wrenches, they live in a roll because...

    Tekton Semi-Deep

Hmm… an SAE 6-pt set in semi-deep is intriguing as a single rail solution for the things I actually use SAE for.

What's a good impact wrench that won't break the bank?

Hyper tough high torque. $99 for the kit and it’s right up there with last-gen Milwaukee and dewalt. It’s a no-brainer for anyone that just needs a 1/2 impact. Seriously it’s not even close.

Bought a Milwaukee Fuel Gen 2 3/8" (2960-20). Should I have opted for the 1/2"?

I like the 3/8 stubby m12 and 1/2 high torque combo. the 3/8 m12 makes the mid torque superfluous.

    Flex Power Tools

Unless Milwaukee pulls lineup wide high torque shenanigans, the higher tier 18 (and 12v) Li-ion market is set. Battery chemistry? Higher voltage? I don’t know what the next disruptor is. Flex had a hard path.

Opinions on Milwaukee 12 volt cordless tools?

A couple Brad nailers and a radio, plus battery sizes that have been out from their competitors for a while. Be still my beating heart. You are proving my point for me.

Opinions on Milwaukee 12 volt cordless tools?

I’m well aware of what it is - my statement still stands.

Opinions on Milwaukee 12 volt cordless tools?

I converted from my many years old Makita lxt 18v when it Became clear makita was going to orphan it in favor of the xgt series. So far the gen 3 fuel drill, impact driver, and the gen 2 stubby impact have been awesome. Really not a whole lot of difference from the brushed makita stuff.

    Filling in Wrenches and sockets

30mm 12 point if you own/work on a Toyota FWD. 32, 35, 36 for some axle nuts. This really just seem like “if you own it buy it” kind of tools though.

Best ratchet wrench? SO, Mac and Icon +more tested.

The ratcheting heads on those are too big/bulky.

    Show your new tool arrivals

The icons have been absolute money for me.

What car tools go in separate cases instead of drawers of your toolbox ?

Tool boxes are too expensive to stuff them with plastic cases. Everything with a case gets put into a lockable cabinet. Much cheaper, and better organized.

Can I just use impact sockets?

With few exceptions all of my 1/2 drive sockets are impacts. I have a small set of 1/4 drive SAE sockets for lag screws, and 10mm, 12mm, 13mm and 14mm 1/4 drive impacts for anything vehicle related that I need a small impact for.

Quest for Good Snap Ring Pliers

I bought the icon precision set. They worked immediately better than any of the convertible types I was struggling with.
