You must be getting a really great deal. I priced copper and aluminum for my subpanel (80' run) and it was $1.85/ft for aluminum versus $6.35 for copper. Aluminum was a no brainer.

You can get window film that will "frost" the glass for you and prevent being able to see in but still allow light in. If you can't find it online, look for a local sign or glass company.

Do not take my word for it, and consider the risks of handling anything with asbestos, regardless of it's "state", but I believe the siding is fine to be removed and disposed of like normal building material so long as it remains in its compressed tile state. It is when the material is broken...
