Yes, they are loud in the rain but some insulation and some type of wall sheathing on the ceiling and walls can sure help that issue a lot. I would love to have the room to build one.

Floor drains are a nono in Michigan. I think you can add one IF you build an oil interceptor but that gets pricey. The best thing to do is have someone do it while the inspector is not around. ;)

I think it is a Michigan Code actually. I work for a municipality and we will allow them but only with oil interceptors, which I don't think are all that cheap but I could be wrong.
