where do you buy your Blasting Media

Depends on what I'm blasting, but I've had pretty good results with the Harbor Freight media. It's cheap and their shipping is free or very low cost which can save a lot compared to other vendors. Do a search on their site for "aluminum oxide" or "glass bead". Andy

    Bench in progress

Very nice! I love seeing guys that have made a good looking and functional space on a very tight budget. The only thing I would change is either boxing in under the loft shelf or simply stain the bare wood to match. Nice work.

    Electrical Advise For Dummies

Copper seems to be continuously climbing in price faster than gas! I'm looking at about 50' of basic 4-3 Nomex feeding a sub-panel and I got sticker shock when I checked the price a week ago, and in just a matter of days it jumped another $0.30/foot ($4.90 to $5.20). I wouldn't plan on copper...

More winches and shop floor mount ???'s

Thanks for the tip bobbyd, but how exactly do the drop in anchors attach? The wedge anchors clearly "wedge" as the nut is tightened down drawing the cone shaped head tighter in the hole. I'm not sure I understand how the Hilti anchors grab the concrete? I definitely like the idea of being able...

More winches and shop floor mount ???'s

I've read lots of great info here about winches and shop floor mounts but I still have some questions. I'm looking to buy an inexpensive (quality) winch that I can rig up with a hitch adapter to use it two places. My inclined driveway leads into a flat garage and I want to use it to pull dead...

Anyone make their own cabinets for their garage? Plans?

I seriously considered a few of the kits from here: http://www.tidygarage.com/ I ended up getting free kitchen cabinets, but these kits are basically just metal brackets that you combine with 3/4" plywood to make simple, strong, cheap cabinets/shelves/benches. I do not have any actual...

Wagner vs. Pro Airless Sprayer ?

I'm getting ready to paint the bare drywall in my garage with a primer coat and probably two finish coats. It's a modest 2 car, but with 11' ceilings and a couple drywalled beams/side-posts that break things up and make for lots of corners. I've considered the roller on a stick, but it seems...

    Base trim ideas?

David....how did you finish the edge of the FRP....or did you? I thought of those panels I've seen at HoPo, but I wondered about the various options for finishing the top edge.

    Base trim ideas?

I thought about 1x material, but then I started thinking that it might have a higher tendency to warp. I think it would look better with the thinner lumber, but I would have to buy descent grade boards that wouldn't cup terribly. Your post actually got me to thinking about synthetic decking...

    Base trim ideas?

Anybody have any good CHEAP ideas for putting some kind of base moulding around my garage? On half my garage there is drywall that goes all the way down to the concrete floor, and on the other half there is a 12" concrete wall and then drywall above that. The floor is epoxy coated, and I'll be...

    overhead garage storage...

Check out their site... http://www.tidygarage.com You buy the heavy duty bracket kits, and supply your own lumber. They look like pretty strong brackets, and you can make whatever size you need cheap! Good Luck, Andy

A new kind of Snap On truck...

I agree that most "avg. Joe's" won't pay for SO most of the time. Unfortunately, I am one of them for the most part, and an SO store would have to compete with Sears, Home Depot, and Lowes to sell tools to avg. Joe, but with a fraction of their national buying power. Many of us weekend...

    Applying Acid

The wife's plastic 2 gal type watering can worked well for me. No problems attacking the metal, and still use it for plants after a good cleaning. You can also buy a stiff "acid" brush made of all plastic that mounts to a broom stick for a few bucks at Home Depot. Andy

    Garage heater opinions

I'm new to this great forum, and I've been reading many previous garage heater threads. I wanted to get your opinions on various options for heating my 2 car, insulated, drywalled garage this winter. It's about 22'x22' with 10' ceilings, and it holds heat pretty well. Although winter in the...
