What to do with old Dish TV equipment in garage

If the shipping wasn't so expensive I think you could have sold it to someone in Morocco. They are still quite popular there ;)

Garage door monitoring system WITHOUT wifi

I have use this one since 2019. It works great for me. Red light when a door is up. No remote notification. I extended the red LED on a long wire and put the LED on a panel on my wall next to a light switch so that I didn't have to have the receiver out and visible...

    Garage door openers acting oddly

Thanks for the ideas. I am aware that the openers are old but except for these two surprise opens, they still work well. I tend to not throw out stuff that is working but I understand that what I have does not have, to say the least, the latest, most secure radio system. My house was built in...

    Garage door openers acting oddly

I have two car doors in my garage with older Genie openers. I have lived in the house for over five years and never had a problem with them until the last couple of weeks. We had a random open of one door two weeks ago. I had a WiFi device connected to that one that would allow remote control...

    Rekeying locks

When we purchased our current house I rekeyed the locks myself. A couple of YouTube videos and an inexpensive kit from Amazon for the correct brand of the locks was all that was required. It was pretty easy. I don't know anything about the electronic lock though but YouTube might.

    Garage door open alert?

That's what I have and I agree, it works great. I extended the warning LED away from the base station for a cleaner install.

    Wifi to a detached building?

You could use an ethernet over power lines solution like THIS to get from your router to near where the conduit to your shop is, avoiding getting into the ceiling or running an exposed wire around the room. All it requires is a box plugged into your router and an AC outlet near it and another...

    Security Camera Recommendations

I agree. About $20 per camera with motion sensing and cloud storage of clips when motion is sensed. I use them indoors so it only activates when there is an actual threat. I think Wyze is the lowest cost, optimal solution.

Thanks for this link. It provided hours of great reading. The writing was great. I feel like I was with a friend looking at and talking about his tool collection.

    Extension cord storage/organization

+1 although in my experience as a audio tech, the lighting guys don't do this.

    It's vice week here

It seems like it must be vice week where I live. I have never seen three available at the same time. These vices are available on CL right now. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the vices and the asking prices. My current vice is a old foreign vice that is not very precisely made. #1, $50...
