    Compressor piston ring "order"

Can someone offer advice on how these piston rings are to be installed? The "old" rings are both chamfered with the bevel facing up, toward the top of the piston. The new rings (pictured) have only one ring wit a groove in it and one is solid. So....oil rihg on bottom, (can only go on one way)...

can anyone tell me about this CH made in usa compressor?

It's a VT series pump. Motor is a "special" designation, meaning it MIGHT make 6.5 HP if it had to. actually about 3 HP, but that's enough to turn the pump. Pump RPM is between 850 and 1100, makes 10.2 cfm @90psi. New cost is around 650 to 700 at Home Depot, sold under the Husky brand. I'm...

Ideas or suggestions on compressor rebuild?

I'd like to hear anything you folks can offer regarding this compressor rebuild. I found a Campbell Hausfeld, 60 gal., 6HP compressor cheap on Craigslist. The motor was missing, but the pump moved freely and for $75, I thought I'd go for it. I bought a motor, and started replacing pump parts...

    Woodworking, "fix-it" shop

I know this is a mostly automotive site, but I get great advice here so I'm stayin'. This is just an example of doing the best you can with what you got. Downtown Commerce, GA, right on main street. My daughter's dog grooming shop is in part of the building, and I set up here to rebuild and...

Flat file cabinet - Is this worth the $$?

If you ever find one of these, buy it. This one came from a local hospital, to me through the Goodwill store, $25. Holds about a ton, full extension drawers...I wish I could find 2 more.

    HELP compressor wiring problem

I had the ground connected to the "bottom set" of wires shown on the motor. Since there was nothing designated for these to connect to, I assumed the ground went there. A dumb mistake, but I don't wire motors every day. Maybe this flub will remind me for the next few years....

    HELP compressor wiring problem

OK....feeling purty stoopid now.....You said post a picture of how you wired it then it hit me.....I had the ground wire connected wrong....hope I didn't do any damage:confused: The ground wire simply connects to the green screw inside the motor's junction box, correct?

    Help on compressor quick connect

At my mom & pop hardware store there were some Milton brand couplers labeled "I/M", which I assume means "industrial/Milton"? Anyway, that's what I use for everything, even though until now I wasn't quite aware of it ! LOL

    Noob from NE Georgia

HI All.... A couple of Google searches for help with an old air compressor turned up this forum. I only snooped for about 2 days before joining. I once had a pretty nice shop where I worked on my '70 Buick GS. These days I've turned most of my attention to woodworking, but I can use mechanical...
