    Mephisto Tools

Hi all, I've been quiet for a while. I recently re-found this Mephisto brace which I previously catalogued and promptly forgot about. It's a 10 inch sweep and has the Mephisto brand on the ratchet housing. It's not shown in Four-cycle's 1938 catalogue, so that's a big help to dating it. Cheers...

    Valve removal tool?

Thanks, that makes perfect sense. I've got a couple of the valves with the mushroom stems but the heads are too big to fit in the recess of the tool, smaller valves would work ok. Cheers, Geoff.

    Valve removal tool?

I got hold of this little tool recently, described as a valve lifter. I'm assuming, on a side valve engine, it's put around the bottom of the stem and levered up to remove the collets? One side says VLC, the other YII 3. Any clues on what engine it was it made for or whether I'm completely off...

    Braunsdorf-Mueller tools

This is my Braunsdorf-Mueller circle cutter, designed to go in a carpenters brace. It's a really well made tool, compared to some. Two clamp screws allow the blades to be adjusted, I've been told that the inner and outer circle would often be cut individually in which event one blade could be...

    Show your Millers Falls tools!

Thanks Leviton, when I put it on display at various events I attend it always gets a lot of interest. According to Oldtoolheaven it was only made from 1897 - 1899. You can fold it up as I've shown but as far as replacing two other braces goes, in its 8" format and in a tight spot, it would still...

Millers Falls Drill Brace, two for the price of one. Use as a breast drill then remove the drive gear and converts to a brace. Later models of this tool were numbered 182 but I don't think this model was numbered. Crank handle length is adjustable. Corner Brace No 502 a handy tool for...

Hollow Handle (Wooden, also Steel) Combination Tool and Bits

Thanks for the advice Lugz but still can't get my photos up any other than this which I also find quite annoying. I haven't got a lot going for me, a bit Neanderthal and from Western Australia, initials WA, which the rest of Aus' reads as Wait Awhile. I have redone pages 32, 35, 36 and 37 to...

USA" J Fray is Johns son Joseph and this is the only Fray tool I've seen exhibiting his initial. The...

    Hol-Set Mfg Co socket set.

My brother in law is currently rebuilding a Ford T, drew my attention to this valve lifting tool associated with that model. Judges patent description doesn't make in any mention of the valve lifter in the actual claim. I wonder if Henry Ford or associate patented this?

Some kind of bit and brace tool

Not quite youtube Crugg but I went out, found a stick and cut a tenon. Start with a stick cut off nice and square,(4) then it's got to be tapered with a spoke pointer, like a big pencil sharpener, to reduce the end to fit in the mouth of your tenon cutter.(2) (5) Next adjust the tool to the size...

    Hol-Set Mfg Co socket set.

The sockets don't have an internal indent to locate on the ball and because the shaft doubles as a tool holder there's no shoulder to stop the socket pushing up too far so I think the pin is essential. Could the filling in your hole be the pin sheared off by a socket forced violently up for...
