Try my new easy cabinet designer

Well done! I've bookmarked it for future use. I look forward to having it work with Imperial, as all of my woodworking measuring tools and my middle aged brain are in Imperial. Love the cutting plan - I assume it factors in a saw blade width? I've used AutoCAD to lay out all the...

Who's using a mini split in youz shop?

I have a Fujitsu Halcyon that takes care of the cooling and heating of my 28'x28' shop. When I built the shop I didn't skimp on insulation and the unit has no problem maintaining any temp I choose. it's about five years old now and has been great.

i broke my own golden rule

I like your thinking. Last year I performed an overhaul on my basement toilet's tank and replaced everything inside it. Fortunately I had used a high quality quarter turn shutoff valve when I installed it 20+ years ago so I didn't have to change that. Once I was sure everything worked well I...

Things to add or consider before closing up shop walls?

Figure out where your doorknob is going to hit the wall when the door is open and put some wood blocking there before you drywall.

    Interior garage walls

Insulation in the walls is good. Insulation in the ceiling is even better. When I built my 2 car attached garage I was on a strict budget and got talked out of insulating the walls (but I did drywall them, and also the ceiling.) Years later I added Insulation in the ceiling, and occasionally...

Seal the bottom corners of the garage door? Keep crawling bugs out?

I put one of these spider traps on each side of the interior edges of the garage door. They fold into a triangle and have an incredibly sticky inside surface. The bugs (mostly spiders in my area) come in and get stuck. Then more bugs try to come in to eat the stuck bugs, and they get stuck...

One big roll up or two smaller ones?

Stuff tends to accumulate on both sides of the garage, narrowing the space for both cars, and with two doors there's a temptation to store stuff in the space near the doors in the middle. With one big door, you can move one car (temporarily) out in the street and easily pull the other car into...

    Double vs single garage doors

I have one door, and recommend one door over two separate doors. There are times when I'm working on a vehicle and want to have a lot of room on both sides and having one door makes it easier to position it in the center, especially if the garage is not very deep. My garage is wide enough that...
