    Network advise needed

This is very sound advice on the Access Points. I run these at my house and my network appears as one 'large' network to the phones/laptops/etc even though there are multiple access points. Seamless, high quality, and priced right. POE injection means you can put them where you want them vs...

    Minimum height for high bay

FWIW I just finished my 24x36 and hung x6 James 225W 'high bays' with the included diffuers up in the ~16ftish zone. They spread nicely and are MORE than bright enough. The goal was to be able to run them dimmed most of the time then bump it up when I need the extra lumens. Two per 'bay' (though...

High electric bill, 3/4 amps on breaker box ground!?!?

Also frostless refrigerators have heating coils in the cabinet/doors so one could conceivably be sucking big power if it has lost it's mind. Please report back with your findings! Curious!

    Lightning hit

BTW whole home surge suppressors exist and if you are in a lightning prone area could be the difference between saved electronics and not, for a non-direct strike nearby. These are hard-wired units.

    Lighting Choice; LED High Bay

I haven't seen any bugs or noticeable dirt in the light path. I don't see anywhere for stuff to easily get in there either but I've only had mine up for a few months. Cheers!

    Garage Owner's Worst Nightmare- Fire

Man that is terrible. As a fellow VW owner (and hot-rodder) I feel your pain on loosing accumulated parts for 'the dream project' Glad to hear nobody was hurt. My post-frame building has metal roof, concrete siding, and very little wood near the floor. I take fuel storage and ignition sources...

    Lighting Choice; LED High Bay

I hung my James 225's with the S-hooks only direct on the purlins of my post-frame barn. I hung the ones either side of the overhead door tracks with chains. Parallel to the 'bay'. Still happy with them. Fairly rare that I have to break out a flashlight, even under a vehicle.

Best Lighting Option For My Shop?

In my 24x36x14 I went with x6 of these http://www.ledlightingwholesaleinc.com/James-High-Bay-4-Foot-225-Watt-p/zy-h3-225w.htm They're hanging 16ft or so up (right on the purlins) and give me 100-120fc wall to wall at 3ft with my current setup and fill. I went with the 5K temperature, others...

Outdoor led flood light, best option, best price

I have a 3-bulb 100W each halogen fixture mounted up (15ft or so) on the side of my house that illuminates my driveway (and not my neighbors house) really well. From what I hear getting quality replacement bulbs is challenging. Older version of this...

    Anyone ever seen this?

Ladybugs using the mains voltages as protection? Smart!

I finally installed my Costco LED shop lights, and made a video of it

Too bad the remote control outlet hardware designers didn't think about support for a quad-box. Seems needlessly bulky. Nice video.

Routing Power for my Home Shop

Conduit and cables are completed and all sealed up. Landed the power over the New Years weekend and finally switched off my single 20A circuit on extension cord that I've been doing most of the build on (the rest came from my RV solar array). Now to start running some circuits. Thanks for the...

Time switch recommendations for battery charger

I charge my 36V Toyota forklift with a 36V golf-cart charger (as it has flooded cell batteries on board). It has an automatic shut-off and while it won't charge as fast as the big boys, it is perfect for my typical use scenario. It puts out ~25A max at 36V. I think I have 3 of these chargers...

Routing Power for my Home Shop

Is there a problem with that? I am led to believe that NEC 250.122 applies since I am connecting after a 200A main breaker for my subpanel.

Routing Power for my Home Shop

Finished mocking up the conduit run (no glue yet). 6 sweeping bends and 2 LBs (one mid, one at sub-panel). It'll be a fun pull though I'll likely pull in sections and glue it up if it gives me grief. I have nice long lengths of the commercial/poco pull rope/strap. Run is ~77ft from main to sub...
