    Slab Heat Questions

I did a footer and frost wall, slab poured inside the wall. I ran 2" foam from the footer to the top of the slab. I'm not sure where you're located and what type of winters/frost you have. Look up "Frost Protected Shallow Foundations". You need insulation on the perimeter. Can't answer your...

    Gable End Lean-to Plan---Critique?

As above, I would cut your steel back first, expose the header and make your rafter connections directly to the header instead of over the steel. Get the lean to up and roof on. The angled flashing piece will slip up behind the steel on the building and run out on top of your lean to roof...

Busy over the holidays with the family so it's been slow going. Got a couple good days in though and got all of the trim on. The trim at the transition from block to drywall will get painted, hoping to work on it this week after work. Put up the vinyl strip doors in the partition wall...

IT'S ALIIIIVE!!!! EZB-ECO-10KW Boiler Radiant Garage Install w/pics

I started up a new radiant system in my 32x44x12 shop at the end of October. Thermolec boiler. I have an air temp thermostat, slab sensor in the floor and ODR. It seems to be running exactly as you described throughout this thread. I haven't seen the boiler temp over 75°F so far. My...

No photos for this update. Still slowly working at the window and door trim. Received the Cert of Occupancy in the mail last week, so it's official. Picked up some phone line, ring down circuit and a couple no dial phones. Hoping to get the wire pulled Saturday, but probably won't have time...

Got the stair modifications done and sent the photos off to the inspector this morning. That should wrap up the final inspection. Guys got the gutters on in 2 hours Friday morning, glad to have that done. Worked on trim a little Sunday, nothing worth showing.

I used to do construction work in my early/mid twenties, but have been at a desk job for the last 12 years and went soft. Took some time to get back in shape. It was a lot of work, but spread out over 2+ years. Final inspection was done today. Failed for the stair railing. Inspector just...

    Modify a drywall lift?

I rented a lift that went up to 15', no extension, just a different lift. They had the 11' model available also.

    Hot water in the shop?

Ed, any idea how much hot water you can get in one shot before it starts to cool down? How long to recover? I was going to put a 6 gallon in my new shop. 12 gallon is only about $50 more and I just noticed a 19 gallon is the same price as the 12! Just a shop sink for washing hands, parts, etc...

Jay, since the garage doors are under the eaves, I went for 4' overhangs. This also gives me a nice storage space on the back side of the building. The concrete slabs are leftover from various pours. I had forms ready and emptied the truck into them. I just roughly set them in place while I...

Long story short, he backed down a little from where he stopped, I hooked my F150 on and pulled him the rest of the way. Once we got moving, we just kept going. Couldn't believe it worked. It was an F550 dually, 4wd with a 32' gooseneck carrying 8500+ lbs of trusses. I was in 4 low and I'm...

Started the long process of mudding. Took me forever. This is one item I should've hired out. Finished sanding last week (Oct 2022) and primed everything. Got the ceiling painted so I put the lights up. Got the walls painted enough to get the boiler panel on the wall and just started it...
