It was a t joint, 3/8" plate to 7/8" bent flat. That was an apperance weld. I welded a few last year that we did 3 passes with the stick and 7014. That one was a single pass mig.

Thanks, I try I try :lol_hitti I find it better personally. The 7014 will run on DCEP, EN, Or AC just fine. Never had a problem with running it on a Lincoln tombstone just with AC we have to up the amps a little more, tends to stick alot more if running low amps.

I been using the fowler retractable ones for years now. No issues. Sharpen the tip maybe once a year. The entire scribe is made in a few pieces so they get loose over time. Thats the only flaw I see.

Thanks for the positive comments. Those lift about 2000lbs but spread out over 7 of them. They move at 60 feet per minute travel. I put the step in there just for ease of install for me. Its easier just to set the step on there and stick the bolts in. There is no slop in the holes either...
