Finally installing my sub-panel! Need some advice... As usual

I flipped the 6-50 receptical as per the suggestions here. The plug on my welder has to be plugged in upside down in the garage that it is in now and it is super annoying. I thought I was mounting this one in such a way that I wouldn't have to flip the plug on my welder over but, I was mistaken...

Edited, never mind. I misread your comment about the staple. Yep, I will staple it closer to the receptical in the morning.

Finally installing my sub-panel! Need some advice... As usual

Good to know! Can I reidentify the white wire with a strip of colored electrical tape or what is the best way to do it? I was thinking of getting red colored electrical tape to mark the white wire leg of my 220v. Then using white to mark the common of my SER if it isn't already marked.

Finally installing my sub-panel! Need some advice... As usual

I am working on installing my 100 amp sub-panel in my attached garage. I have two recepticals wired for now. (More later) My copper 3-3-3-5 SER should be delivered this Wednesday. What I am asking for advice on is the best way to get it in to the basement... My plan is to run the SER down out...

Wire size wire to run from the main to my sub-panel?

I have that big air compressor, I may end up with another (free one), my Millermatic 210, 110v Esab plasma cutter, I want to add an air conditioner, and other lights and tools (chop saw/grinder/saws). I don't plan on running it all together at the same time but, I don't want to sell my self...

Wire size wire to run from the main to my sub-panel?

This may seem like a silly question but, if I was to use 4/0-4/0-4/0 Aluminum SER Cable w/ 2/0 Ground what would be the best way to run the big of a cable out of my main breaker box and in to my garage? I am assuming I could run it out of the box and up to my floor joists. Where I could attach...

Wire size wire to run from the main to my sub-panel?

That was my next question. What about a 200 amp panel? If I picked up a new 40 slot breaker box and re-used my existing breaker box but with 100amp main breakers in it, I wonder if they will accept it?

Wire size wire to run from the main to my sub-panel?

That is good to know about the breakers and the box! I have always been told to stay away from aluminum but, it doesn't sound that bad the more I am reading about it. As long as it is properly sized and installed correctly. Definitely something to take in to consideration!

Wire size wire to run from the main to my sub-panel?

It is a 5hp 1-phase 80 gallon two stage Ingersol Rand air compressor. I believe the amp draw on it is 28 amps, I could be mistaken though

Wire size wire to run from the main to my sub-panel?

That is good to know! That is kinda what I was thinking but, wanted to make sure. Yes, it is an attached garage. My existing panel is a Square D homeline so, I believe everything is still available. I was planning on sticking with that brand and style for the new one as well. I have a rather...

Wire size wire to run from the main to my sub-panel?

I am planning swapping out my main breaker box for a larger 40 slot (80 circuit) breaker and was planning picking up a 20 slot 100amp box to use for the sub-panel in my garage but, I started wondering if I could just swap my main breaker box and use my existing 20 slot breaker box in my garage...

Another sub-panel question... What is the best way for me to go about it

It is an attached garage. Thanks for the responses, I am definitely learning alot. I was shopping for new breaker boxes last night because I am not too familiar with them. I was looking at the 30 breaker box but, found a 42 breaker for a little over a $100. Hmmmm.... So many decisions! Hahaha

Another sub-panel question... What is the best way for me to go about it

We bought this house about a year ago and I have been kicking around the idea of finishing the inside of the garage. But, before I do I would like to get atleast one 220v outlet for my Millermatic 210 welder and a decent size air compressor. The garage has a hand full of 110v outlets that are in...
