    Pavers for garage steps?

Unilock has a new product they release this year, UCara. It is a modular block solution that can be used for retaining walls, seating areas and steps. At the moment, they have, I believe, 6 different "face" panels that can be attached to the blocks. https://contractor.unilock.com/u-cara/

    Setting grade for pole barn

I like using my smartleveler for measuring grade. It is basically a fancy water level and measures change in elevation from the base to the digital gauge. http://smartleveler.com/

    Apron materials/pavers

Just quick look through my price lists, Techo is the most expensive. Belguard has DOMINO PAVER retail at $1.98 sq ft and CAMBRIDGE COBBLE at $2.88 sq ft. According to belguard's website, both can be used for driveways.

    Apron materials/pavers

Unilock Hollandstone pavers, 4"x8". $2.78 per sq ft x 60sq ft (6'x10' apron) = $180. I do 6" base on a standard patio, I would go at least 10-12" for base that is going to be driven on. That is about 4 yards of 3/4" crushed limestone (rock available in my area) x $34 per yard = $136. 1" mason...

Possible to run automotive shop in residential zoning?

Check your local ordinances and zoning regulations. I couldn't run my landscape business out of my home....and that was without any clients coming to me. I could apply for a permit (don't recall the correct term) so that I 'could' do office work out of my house for the business. I didn't do...

snow blower / hitch hauler unit

I have one that I made a couple years ago, with just random pieces of metal I had laying around. Instead of expanded metal, I used angle iron. The snowblower tires fit snug between the rungs. I wish I had made it a few inches deeper. 90% of the time I unload/load from the back, not from the...

    Pole building back log

Though very true that the big names and "good" contractors may be booked out, that doesn't necessarily mean that all other contractors are crappy. Ask for references! Having started my own landscape company and not being booked out 4 months doesn't mean that I don't do good work (though it...

    Help - Construction Issues

I can't comment too much, but galvanized metal will eventually rot through when it is embedded in concrete.

    Winter proofing an attached garage

I used a oil filled space heater for my 14'x22' detached garage. It held the temps to around 40-42 degrees.

    Insulating bank barn

I am getting my bank barn ready for winter. I am working on partitioning off part of the lower barn for temporary heated work space until I have my garage built (possibly end of 2018 or into 2019). I'm trying to figure out how to do it without moisture issues and not spending a ton of money on...

Need advice\opinion on work not completed but still invoiced

I would not pay....a reputable contractor would have had a contract outlining the scope of work and payment terms. Had this been my project and I wasn't 100% sure how much dirt I needed to bring in, I would have added to the contract that this is the price for up to x yards of dirt and any...
