I am getting my bank barn ready for winter. I am working on partitioning off part of the lower barn for temporary heated work space until I have my garage built (possibly end of 2018 or into 2019). I'm trying to figure out how to do it without moisture issues and not spending a ton of money on a temporary solution.
The ceiling is about 7'6" to the bottom of the upper-level floor joists. These joists are not the same distances apart. I was thinking using a 6 mil plastic to the bottom of the joists to block free air movement and then move the straw and hay in the upper level to cover the section of flooring over the heated area. Any issues with this?
I'm looking to maintain 40-45 degrees, just enough to be comfortable to work in and keep fluids/paints from freezing. Last night the temp went down to 28 degrees and the lower barn was at 42 degrees at 5:15 this morning with a very drafty door I'm in the process of fixing.
Total area to be heated is approximately 900 sq ft.
