PSA - 40x30 is not the ideal size for a shop!!

I like you're prints, it's what I actaully did before I built mine. Measured at all the cars, workspace, etc. to make sure it all fit. In the end, it ended up exactly like I wanted, still just wish a I had a wee bit more. :)

PSA - 40x30 is not the ideal size for a shop!!

I carefully planned by 30x40 prior to standing it up. Had I to do it all over again, would have done a 40x60. Not for more stuff necessarily, but simply for more room around the cars. First world problems, eh?:)

    Refurbished Bendpak 2-post

She's pretty beat up, but nothing a rattle can won't fix, still took 7 weeks to get it.

    Refurbished Bendpak 2-post

Ya, Iwasn't aware and just accidently stumbled across this one, I would say the one I recieved is more of a scratch and dent vs. a refurb.

    Refurbished Bendpak 2-post

So I stumbled across Bendpak's refurb section of products they offer, including lifts. I assumed that they don't often have these, so pulled the trigger on a GP-7 they had. I would really have liked to had one of their 10k lifts, but I'm working with Mustangs and 1/2 trucks, so wasn't a must...

Yes, first thing on the list is the oil catch can, a cheap one is $100.

So I'm 30X40, with the short side to the front entrance. I use 7+ feet down the left side for a workbench/cabinets, compressor, tool box with overhead storage on top of that. Scissor truss configuration, throws a lot of folks off when they walk in as they aren't expecting the high ceiling. With...

It's the path I was headed down, just like to have real world experiences. Besides, I can point this to my wife and say "See, I'm not crazy! " :)

It's where I'll be living, with 5 vehicles, 2 of them being play toys. Curious, how low is your Vette to the ground? One of my Mustangs is right around 4 1/2 inches. It's low enough that even to get a jack under the front of the car, I drive it up boards to give me the extra clearance.

Garage not wide/tall enough - help!

Ya if you can get away from the joined POS building, go for it. It doesn't look to be much in the way structurally, but you'll have to shore things up when you demo your side. You're just going to have to survey it all out to see how things lay.

I'm with you on that one. Few of my vehicles are leakers, drives me nuts cleaning up the oil, let's just say my 6 year old garage floor is well seasoned at this point. Far cry from being virgin.

I'll all about used stuff, so long as it was taken care of. That last part is usually the tricky part. I've looked, not much around, and what is, is junk missing only God knows what.

I don't consider myself even close to being old, but admit I've used the term whippersnappers more than once!

Thanks for all the reponses guys, much appreciated. At the end of the day, I just try to be sensible about the whole thing. I look at the cost and think of all the other cool/fun stuff I could buy with it. On the flip side, to maximize the use of it, may as well get one now, really doubt I'll be...

Ha, it is sort of a no-brainer, but I just like a gut check from those that have been there, done that.
