So I stumbled across Bendpak's refurb section of products they offer, including lifts. I assumed that they don't often have these, so pulled the trigger on a GP-7 they had. I would really have liked to had one of their 10k lifts, but I'm working with Mustangs and 1/2 trucks, so wasn't a must have. Here's the verbaige they use on they're site for all products in this category:
REDUCED PRICING is available for all open-box or refurbished items. Additional savings range anywhere from 10% to 50% off normal advertised pricing, depending on the condition of the item. Contact BendPak or your authorized BendPak dealer for special pricing on all open-box items.
REFURBISHED ITEMS are previously-owned products that have been returned to BendPak for various reasons. Typically, refurbished products are fewer than three months old and are refurbished to original specifications and functionality.
OPEN-BOX ITEMS include products that have been opened or are slightly used. They are generally items returned due to original transit complications. Items used as floor or display models, as well as items opened or inspected due to periodic quality control measures.
Open-box and refurbished items carry a limited warranty and limited return policy and should be tested thoroughly when they are received. Be sure to read the warranty and return policy before you purchase one of these items.
The lift I purchased was in the "Good" rating, so I worked off that assumption when I ordered it. In my head, I figured maybe it was a return, lightly used, and I'd at least get new parts with it where it made sense. What I ended up with was a new lift. Yes, it has a some scratches, few of the decals are torn in places, but other than that, this lift was never installed, a box of brand new parts and pump all included. From what I can gather, I'm guessing it was purchased by a customer and refused at the time of delivery. One end of the angle iron shipping assembly looked to have been tweeked by a forklift and some paint scuffed and scratched from transport, but it had no impact on the lift post.
Not a plug for Bendpak, but something worth checking out if you don't mind a few scuffs and such. I'm very happy with the purchase with the rise in cost of these the past few years. If you're wondering, it was $3,286 out the door, or $1,564 off their current pricing...............or about what these things cost 2 years ago.
